Adding another person to 1Password.

Hi: I have had 1Password for my iPhone since 2009. Have subsequently purchased it for my Mac and IPad. Now my husband would like to start using 1Password. I've read about having a license and sharing it. Can you help me figure out whether I have a license and if so, how to add him (or what the best deal is for getting 1Password for him, if a license isn't the way to go). He will want it on his phone and Mac and iPad mini. Thank you!

    Hi @Linzee,

    Thank you for that extra information, that really helps as what to do is specific to where 1Password was purchased.

    As an 1Password for Mac (Mac App Store) user you will want to look into something Apple call Apple's Family Sharing. What it does is it links Apple IDs together and purchases on one Apple ID can be shared with the others. This will allow you to share your existing Mac App Store version of 1Password for Mac with him at no cost.

    Now the iOS devices are a bit different I'm afraid. 1Password 5 for iOS follows the freemium model. It's where you can download 1Password for iOS for free and use many of the features without paying a penny. We do have what we've labelled Pro Features which is a one-off in-app purchase.

    Here's the kicker though. We had hoped this was going to be part of Family Sharing and that you could share the Pro features like the more expensive Mac application. Unfortunately we got that wrong and it would mean an additional in-app purchase per Apple ID. Now the Pro features are available to any iOS device that uses the same Apple ID so one purchase will cover all of your devices.
