Use of 1P5 to efficiently "Change of Address" on multiple websites ?

We are moving and I need to make a good number of "Change of Address" entries on various websites.

My question is a request for ideas about possibly making a generic 1P item that might work across many websites to change address, phone, etc.
That is, are websites generally uniform enough that it would be worthwhile to try creating an** Identity item** to do my editing for me ?

    Hi @Lamplighter,

If you're going to need to enter your new address on different websites, it will definitely help to create an Identity item in 1Password so you can have it fill that information for you. In the main 1Password app, go to File > New Item > Identity and enter your information, then save. When you need to fill your new address on a website, click the 1Password extension/mini icon or use the ⌥⌘\ ( Command+Option+\ ) keyboard shortcut, then select that new Identity item.

To make it a bit easier, you can mark that item as a favorite in 1Password, so you can find it quickly in 1Password mini (the Favorites submenu is listed at the top of 1Password mini, right under the Search field).

One thing to keep in mind is that address forms can vary slightly on different websites. They're usually very similar of course, but some might have 2 lines for the street address while others have 3, some might have a drop-down menu to choose the state while others will ask you to type it, and so on. 1Password does it's best to fill your address correctly and should get it right in most cases, but you'll want to double check to make sure everything is entered in the correct fields before submitting the form.

Does that help to answer your question? If you need anything else, please let us know! :)

@Drew_AG Yes, I think that will help... at least I'm more optimistic now.

Great, I'm glad that will help! 1Password should definitely make it easier for you to enter your new address on websites.

I'm curious: Will 1Password overwrite the existing address in forms in need of changing? (Obviously, I have never tried this.)

To answer @hawkmoth's question, and I'm sure something you'd also like to know @Lamplighter 1Password will overwrite an existing address with another.

Now it isn't perfect. My attempt was on a site where my address was split over two lines compared to a single line in the 1Password Identity item. It overwrote the first line with the one in the Identity item but it didn't touch the second line at all.

So 1Password will be able to help but it isn't something where I would paste and assume all is correct, I would manually review to make sure 1Password got it right as Drew suggested.
