Prevent 1Password update message [Uncheck check for updates in Preferences]

We are using 1Password in a virtual desktop and Windows domain environment and would like to prevent 1Password from popping up messages that a new version is available. As an administrator, I would like the ability to roll out updates to 1Password when it best fits our update schedule. It would also be nice to not hear from many end users that an update is available (something I already know, since I have 1Password installed on my physical workstation), and to prevent them from needing to respond to the update message each time they login to their workstation. Is there a Group Policy template available for 1Password to control behavior in a domain environment? If not, is there another way we can prevent the "update" message from displaying to end users?

  • @cpi39 - To stop automatic checking of updates -

    Run 1Password on Windows PC.
Go to Preferences, select Updates tab.
Uncheck the box 'Automatically check for updates'.

  • Hi @cpi39,

You can also add a command argument -no-update to the 1Password.exe and that'll skip the update check. This would be easier to deploy for your network.

Excellent! That's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you both very much!
