All I need to know is how to store a credit card. I cannot launch an app, I only have the icon in my browsers. Help, this process of finding help is exhausting.

    Hi @misslisa,

Thanks for posting your question. Around here, forum posts are just as good as email!

I cannot launch an app, I only have the icon in my browsers.

Does this mean that you don't have the 1Password app installed? The extension may not work without the app. Or do you mean that there is a problem that's causing the app to not be able to launch? If so, please let us know more about that, including any error messages you may be seeing.

In order to give us a better idea of what your setup is like, please let us know:

That information will help us help you with your credit card question. Thanks!

I have a button on the top toolbar of my browsers (firefox and safari). When I try to add a new credit card, nothing happens when I hit the plus sign. So I went to applications on my mac and there isn't anything there called 1password. Can you please explain how to add a credit card.

    Hi @misslisa,

Here are the instructions for how to save a credit card item, which must be done in the main 1Password app: https://support.1password.com/guides/mac/adding-an-identity-and-a-credit-card.html

If you are unable to locate 1Password in your Applications folder, perhaps it is in your Downloads folder? You may be able to locate it by doing a Spotlight search of your Mac. Depending on what version of OS X your computer runs, you should have a magnifying glass in the top right corner of your computer screen. If you click that and type in "1Password," it will search your computer. Does it find the application?

I had tried all of that and no, it doesn't show up in the spotlight, downloads, applications or anywhere on the computer. It's only in the browser toolbars. Under settings, it's version 3.9.20.

And if I click "Launch 1password app" nothing happens.

    Hi @misslisa,

Thanks for that information. You will need to install the app. In order to help you find the right version of the app to install, please let us know what version of OS X your computer runs. From the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen, select "About this Mac" and please tell us what it says next to OS X.

Additionally, can you tell us if you remember ever buying 1Password before? Thanks.

OSX 10.10.3 My husband installed it, not sure if we bought it. Looking through emails, I only see it referenced in an email from smile on my mac (text expander). That may be how I did it? Just let me know what I need to do. I don't want to lose all my saved passwords! You've been so very helpful.

Thanks for the additional info, @misslisa!

With that operating system, you can use 1Password 5 for Mac. Here is the user guide for your reference.

1Password 5 costs $49.99, so that's why I asked if you'd bought it before; we wouldn't want you to accidentally buy it again if you don't need to. If you can ask your husband if he bought it, perhaps he will remember?

There are two different places you can buy 1Password 5 for Mac: the Mac App Store, or our own AgileBits Store.

If you previously bought it from the Mac App Store, it will most likely be listed in the Purchases tab of the App Store, where you can install it again for free.

If you bought it from our AgileBits Store, you would have received an email from AgileBits titled "Your Receipt and License Information." But I don't see any license registered to the email address associated with your forum login, so if you did buy it from us, it would be under a different email address.

I look forward to hearing back whether you were able to find a previous purchase or have decided to buy it new, and we can go from there. :)

It could be under [Edit: email addresses removed to protect privacy]. I do not find receipt in App purchases or in my email, though. I'll check with my husband, too.

Oh, please be sure those email addresses don't show up on any public pages, thanks.

    Hi @misslisa,

The forums here are public, so I removed your email addresses, but I searched our sales records and found no licenses registered to any of them.

In the meantime while you sort out the license, you're welcome to go ahead and download 1Password 5 at any time and start the free 30-day trial. Then, when you find or buy the license, you'll just need to apply the license to the app to register it and take it out of trial mode.

Thanks for everything. Now, I've downloaded 1Password 5 and get an alert that an old 1Password extension is still installed in Safari. It is important to uninstall the old version and use the new 1Passowrd 5 extension instead. Then you click for uninstall. I am afraid to uninstall because I don't want to lose my passwords! Is it ok to proceed, though?

@misslisa: First, be sure to install the new 1Password extension. So long as you see all of your items in the main 1Password app and the new extension (a circle with a keyhole), it is safe to remove the old extension (key or '1P' icon). Please let me know what you find. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)

Oh, will it remind me to pay for the new version or is there a place I can do that?

@misslisa, on behalf of Brenty and Vee, you're very welcome! I'm glad to hear 1Password is installed and working correctly for you now. :)

Oh, will it remind me to pay for the new version or is there a place I can do that?

It sounds like you downloaded the free trial from our website. In that case, it will be fully functional for 30 days, and then it will let you know the trial expired. At any point before or after the trial expires, you can purchase a license from the AgileBits Store, and the email you receive will explain how to apply your license to 1Password.

If you want to be able to use the iCloud sync feature, you'll need to purchase 1Password from the Mac App Store instead of from the AgileBits Store. There are other sync options in the AgileBits Store version, so if you don't care about iCloud sync, the AgileBits Store version will be fine for you.

If you have any additional questions about that, just let us know!
