keep last entry in 1Password mini

Hi,

Is here any possibility to keep last entry(ies) on the displayed menu?

When I use an app not "recognized" by 1password mini, the menu listing the proposed entries is empty.
This is annoying for many apps as I need to search for every entry.
For ex, to login to AppX, 1) I launch AppX, 2) click on 1password mini and search for AppX, select User Name and copy, 3) switch to AppX and paste, 4) Switch back to 1password mini, and search again for AppX, Select Password and copy, 5) paste in AppX.
I'd just like step 4) not requiring to search again.
Thx

    Hi @lch,

That's a good question! 1Password doesn't work with apps the same way it works with websites in a browser, but we do have an open feature request to recognize the current app and suggest a matching Login item for it, if there is one. I don't have any timeframe for if/when that would happen, but I'll be happy to add your comments to that request.

For now, I have a few suggestions that I think will be really helpful for you:

When I use an app not "recognized" by 1password mini, the menu listing the proposed entries is empty.

To find that Login item faster, you can mark it as a favorite. The Favorites submenu is near the top of 1Password mini, so that might make it easier to find that item, instead of using the Search field.

For ex, to login to AppX, 1) I launch AppX, 2) click on 1password mini

Instead of clicking on the 1Password mini icon, it might be easier/faster to use the ⌥⌘\ Option+Command+\ keyboard shortcut.

select User Name and copy, 3) switch to AppX and paste, 4) Switch back to 1password mini, and search again for AppX, Select Password and copy

Before selecting/copying the username, you can click the anchor button (or use the ⌘O keyboard shortcut) to open the item's details in a separate window that floats on top of your other windows. The item details will be available until you click the red close button in the upper left corner of the window. This will make it easy to copy/paste your username and password into the app, and you won't need to re-open 1Password mini or re-search for that Login item.

In case it helps, you can find more keyboard shortcuts in this knowledgebase article.

Hopefully this helps, but please let us know if you need anything else. Thanks!

    Thank you for your reply.

Indeed, it must be a tricky work to be able to recognize non web applications.

Knowing this, my point was just to know if (or to add it) it exists a way to keep say the last 3 entries within the menu.
That is, whatever the app, If I need to get back to the entry for a second field or if I made an error, it is already there.

Unfortunately, your workarounds do not apply to me for 2 reasons.

    • The issue is not related to favorite apps, but apps which required me to login without being "trapped". There are many of such apps these days. There are actually pseudo web apps wrapped in a separate window.
    • I'm using a French keyboard. Typing '\' already requires 3 fingers. I'm afraid the shortcut you mentions is a longcut which would requires too many fingers or even toes.

    Cheers

As regards typing \, you can alter the keyboard shortcuts in the General section of Preferences. Just make sure your choice is not already used.

    Hi @lch,

I can't make any promises, but I can certainly send your suggestion to our developers. I can definitely see how that would be helpful in your workflow!

The issue is not related to favorite apps...

Sorry, I may not have been clear about that. I didn't mean to mark a Mac app as a favorite, but to mark your Login item (in 1Password) as a favorite, so it's easier to find that Login item in 1Password mini. We have more information about marking items as favorites in 1Password in this knowledgebase article.

As danco mentioned, you can change the keyboard shortcut for 1Password mini. For more information, please see this knowledgebase article. Hopefully you won't need to get your toes involved! ;)

We're here for you if you have more questions or need anything else!
