I seem to have multiple files. One in the menu at the top of the screen and one in the dock. How do I simplify?

    Hi @bcoder,

I seem to have multiple files. One in the menu at the top of the screen and one in the dock.

1Password for Mac is designed that way; it has a main app and a mini app. The mini is in your menu bar for quick and convenient access. They are two parts of a whole, so seeing those doesn't necessarily mean you have more than one copy of 1Password on your computer.

If 1Password is not working properly, or if you're seeing any error messages you want help with, you can send us a Diagnostics Report from your Mac. Here's how:

I also seem to have accumulated lots of password files that seem to have appeared from nowhere???

I'm sorry, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this, but I'll take a guess. Are you seeing unexpected new items in the Passwords category in 1Password?

As described in our user guide:
The Passwords category is your safety net. Whenever you use 1Password to generate and fill a password in a web form, it is automatically saved here. That way, just in case something goes wrong, you don't have to reset your password; it's right here for your reference.

When 1Password prompts you to save a new Login, it will automatically convert the saved Password item to a Login item, neatly cleaning up after itself so you don't have to delete redundant items later. Or you can manually convert it by clicking the Convert to Login button in the item details.

If you find that you don't need or want to keep these, you can click Edit in the item details, and then click the Move to Trash button that appears.

I hope I've answered your questions, but if not, please give us a bit more detail about what you're having trouble with. Thanks! :)
