I don't understand why I'm asked if I want to have a password updated when it's the same one as before. And, when I do change/update my password, why is 1Password saving the old one. It would be much cleaner, if I was asked if I wanted to replace the new one with the old one, like when saving a file I've changed in Word. In both cases we end up with multiple passwords saved for the same website log in. VERY confusing. To know which is which I have to go to REVEAL on each one and delete the old ones manually. HASSLE.

Hope you can make that improvement soon.
thanks!

    Hi @Florentine,

I'm unsure why you're being asked to update a password if it hasn't changed, that is indeed odd. Can I ask a couple of questions to see if we can narrow down the cause.

    1. Do you have more than one Login item for this site?
    2. Would you have any reservations about supplying the URL so we can test?

Now the second part I can reply more comfortably on. This is a design decision and one that I've queried and been told won't change at the moment. The reason for defaulting to creating a new Login item rather than updating one (the two options available in the 1Password Save Login window) was that it was felt this would cause less issues for the wide range of users we try to design 1Password for. I personally would have thought that defaulting to update than new would make more sense but hopefully it will show it isn't a bug but a calculated decision, even if you don't agree.

Once you get used to the fact that the 1Password Save Login window always has both options available it might not be as bad?

Just was way of example as not everybody is aware of that menu.

Thanks for your quick reply. I'm not asking for an updated password. 1Password is asking if I want to update the PW that's already in the system. The next time it happens, I'd be happy to send you the URL.
You're right, I don't agree, but I'm very pleased with your response.
    good customer service!

On behalf of littlebobbytables, you're very welcome! If/when this happens again, it will help if you can let us know the exact steps you took leading up to being asked if you want to update the Login item. Basically, walk us through what you're doing, what you see, what you expect to happen, what happens instead, etc. The URL will also be helpful, so we can test it on our end and see if we're able to reproduce the same thing.

    Thanks! :)
