User name, password, plus another field. How to store?

One of my passwords is for a website that has three password fields: Card no, username, password. I cannot find anywhere how to make 1Password fill all three. They are in the web form details but I cannot set them up as passwords. Help, please!

I have a site like that. For me, it worked to save the login manually, according to these directions. Have you tried that? If you haven't, it's worth a shot.

    Hi @PedroFromAus,

Did hawkmoth's suggestion help? If you follow the steps in that article, it will likely help you create a Login item that works to fill all three fields on that site. If you still have trouble with that, it will help if you're able to let us know the URL so we can test it ourselves. Thanks!

Thanks, hawkmoth and Drew. I did try that suggestion and it didn't solve the problem. For some reason I can't copy the link, but if you go to https://www.bankofmelbourne.com.au and click on the Internet Banking/Logon button, the offending screen pops up.

    Hi @PedroFromAus,

I've taken a peek at the site and thank you for the URL by the way, that really does make it so much easier to assist.

What I've discovered is that they seem to be performing what I assume is a linear transformation with either a time or counter component on the Security Number field of that login page. By that I mean that the value in that field after I've typed in my test number isn't what is there for 1Password to record and it changes each time I re-open the page.

So I typed in the following details

    Card/Access Number: 1234567812345678
    Security Number: 123456
    Internet Password: password

What 1Password found stored in those fields was

    Card/Access Number: 1234567812345678
    Security Number: 137562
    Internet Password: password

and if I close and re-open the page and go through those steps again the Security Number stored in the second Login item won't be 137562.

So what can we do? I can't guarantee anything because I'm not a customer and we will only know it works with a successful login but I do have one thought.

    1. Open the main 1Password window and select your Bankofmelbourne Login item.
    2. Click on the Edit button.
    3. Click on the show web form details button.
    4. Click on the password entry on the line that says securityNumber. Change this to your actual Security Number.
    5. Click Save and see if you can log into your bank's site using this altered Login item.

If you're uncertain at all, please manually log into your bank once beforehand if there is any chance that X number of failed logins will cause you to be locked out, after all the last thing we want to do is cause that. Even if this doesn't work one failed login attempt shouldn't lock you out and you can then manually log back in again to reset the failed attempt counter.

So fingers crossed this works. It's hard to say because we have come across one Israeli bank where they did something similar and each number had to be typed in - our filling wasn't compatible. The only way to know if his is similar is for somebody with an account to test it. Good luck and please do let us know how it goes!

    Many thanks for that suggestion.

That was exactly what I tried before, and the problem I have is as follows: In the Web Form Details, to the right of the field, is a drop down menu where you choose the type of field that it is (Password, Checkbox, URL, etc.). I choose Password for each of the three fields. Next, there is a drop down with an icon of a person or a key (user or password), or blank. However, only two of the three fields can have an icon selected. One must be blank. And the one that is blank is not filled by 1Password. Therefore, 1Password will only fill two of the three fields.

So, the fundamental issue seems to be, how can I get it to fill all three?

    Hi @PedroFromAus,

You shouldn't need to make any changes to those drop down options in the web form details. When you fill your info in the login form on that site and then save a new Login item by following the steps in this article, 1Password will automatically set those correctly for you, so that's not the problem. Instead, the problem seems to be that the site is somehow changing the number you type in the Security Number field, so the wrong Security Number is saved in 1Password. To fix that, you just need to edit the new Login item you created, click "show web form details", then type the correct security number in the field next to "securityNumber". And of course, remember to save the changes. ;)

If you've already made some changes to those drop down options, it might be easiest to save another new Login item for that site, then change the security number as we've described. Also, in one of my tests with that site, the same problem happened with the password that was saved in the new Login item. So just be sure to check that in the web form details as well, in case you need to enter the correct password there. Let us know how it works out!

Ok, Drew, I tried this as you suggest - and thank you for your help with this - and found that two of the fields had been changed in the web form. I corrected them, saved it, and tried to log in again. 1P filled out all the fields ok, but before 'pressing' enter, the last field was blanked out. So, I then get an incorrect password message...

    Hi @PedroFromAus,

Well, at least it sounds like we're making a bit of progress with this! :)

It's strange that the last field is filled in and then blanked out. That doesn't happen for me, so I'm guessing that's either because I don't actually have a working account on that website (so I can't actually sign in), or because my setup might be a bit different than yours.

One thing you can try is to install our latest beta version of the 1Password extension, to see if that makes any difference:

If that doesn't help, can you let us know which browser you're using, and which version of that browser?

Thanks, Drew. Installed the beta extension (4.4.0.b7). This time it filled all fields, then blanked the last two fields before 'pressing' enter. Using Safari 8.0.6.

    Hi @PedroFromAus,

Thanks for trying that. There are 3 fields on that login form, so to make sure I understand, you're saying 1Password fills all 3, but then the Security Number and Internet Password fields are cleared out?

    If so, try this:

    • Open the main 1Password app and find that Login item.
    • Click the Edit button, then change submit setting to "Never submit".
    • Click Save.
    • Try using that Login item again.

This time, it should not try to automatically submit the login form. Are those fields still filled in and then cleared?

Thanks, Drew. This is the method I have been using. When I do this it fills the last two fields ok, but leaves the first one blank. So I have been manually entering the first field, invoking 1Password, and then pressing enter. This is why I suspected the web form details have something to do with this, as it only ever fills in two of the fields, which are always the ones with either a key icon or a user icon besides them.

    Hi @PedroFromAus,

To be honest, I'm fairly baffled at this point - it's a very strange problem, and we haven't been able to reproduce it. Do you have any other extensions installed in Safari? Sometime, other extensions might interfere with 1Password, although in that case the problem is usually that the 1Password extension doesn't work at all. However, you might want to try disabling your other extensions in Safari (leaving only 1Password enabled) and try again to see if that makes a difference at all. If so, then you can turn on the other extensions one at a time, and try 1Password again each time to see which extension causes it to stop working correctly.

If the problem still happens when 1Password is the only extension enabled in Safari, I'd like to ask you to create a Diagnostics Report from your Mac: https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/mac.html

Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@agilebits.com

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox. You should receive an automated reply with a ticket ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the report and make sure you receive a reply as quickly as possible.

Once we see the report, hopefully we'll be able to find something in there that might explain the problem. Thanks in advance!
