Hi there, I just got a new Macbook Air and downloaded 1Password (which I already used) and it won't accept my master password. Still works fine on the old Macbook Air. What gives?

Had you made any attempt to move data across from the old machine to the new, or to sync?

1PW on the new machine does have to be set up, it doesn't just work with previous information, as it is a program, not a service (I mean that you are not logging in to some remote site by means of a username and password).

What I would expect is that you have to go through a couple of procedures, either clicking "I am a new user" or "I have used 1PW before", before you even get to use a master password.

    Hi @kathrynschulz,

Danco is correct, you'll need to sync the data into the newly downloaded app. You didn't mention what sync method you already use, if any, but for your setup of (at least) two Mac computers running the AgileBits Store version of 1Password, your best bet is probably Dropbox.

If you haven't already, I'd suggest setting up Dropbox sync on your old machine first to create the sync file in Dropbox. Then install the Dropbox app on the new Mac and you'll just need to show 1Password where the sync file is (by essentially following the same steps).

You can also sync your data to other platforms with Dropbox if you use 1Password on Windows, iOS, or Android.
