Problem adding a second Mac
I have 2 macs, an iPhone and an iPad all with 1Password (Apple App Store sourced) and synced to iCloud.
Both macs are running OSX 10.10.3 with 1Password version 5.3 (530029) and Safari extension version 4.3.1
I have changed the master password once.
The first rMBP and 2 iOS devices work perfectly.
I can not get the second Mac, a Mac Mini to accept the current master password. It seems to want the first master password ( which I have forgotten).
I retried opening 1Password on the second Mac and it is hung up "searching for existing vault", it will not let me enter a Master Password.
Can you help me please.
1Password Version: 5.3
Extension Version: 4.3.1
OS Version: 10.10.3
Sync Type: iCloud

Hi @jeffsteel,
Can you confirm for us please, did you follow the instructions for starting over on the Mac Mini and that it's at this point where it seems to hang while it says searching for existing vault?
We have had a couple of reports of the searching taking an unusually long time but so far we haven't managed to pin down why. In each instance it seems to resolve itself, worst case being a reboot is required.
Does all of this match what you're experiencing and does a reboot help at all?

Thanks for getting back to me quickly.
No, I did not try to execute the Starting Over process. On the second Mac (the Mini), I have never got into any vault of been able to enter a master password successfully.
How does the app on the second Mac know about the vaults on my synced first Mac and iOS devices?0 -
I tried rebooting the second mac (Mini). When 1Password was opened, it said it found data on iCloud, but it would not accept the master password that works perfectly on all my other devices and mac.
The password hint is for the first master password which I replaced many months ago.

Hi @jeffsteel,
Well as a positive, at least it isn't hanging while it searches. Obviously we need to get this resolved though.
My suggestion would be as follows. I am assuming the vault on your rMBP is complete.
- On your rMBP, launch 1Password.
- Use the Help > Troubleshooting > Reset iCloud Data drop down menu option and follow the steps as guided by 1Password.
- You will be informed that iCloud Sync has been disabled as part of the process, you will need to re-enable iCloud Sync. This will create new sync data based on your current Master Password on your rMBP.
- Attempting to unlock your iCloud data on the Mac Mini should now work.
- As a reassurance, it might be worth creating a test item on your rMBP and ensuring that every device picks it up. Any device that doesn't, it might be worth disabling iCloud Sync there and re-enabling it - force that copy of 1Password to recognise there has been a change.
If you have any troubles with any of that please do let us know but I think that should get you back on the right track. So fingers crossed you'll be reporting success

Hi littlebobbytables,
Success. Your procedure worked. I edited a note on one of my logins and all other devices picked it up.
Thanks for your help. Love 1Password.0 -
That's brilliant @jeffsteel :chuffed: I'm heartened to hear everything is working properly once again.
