The problem is that the data is stored in your Library, and this is hidden by default, and, I think, not visible through Spotlight.

You can get access to the Library folder in the Finder by pressing Alt in the Finder's Go menu. And then the data is in APPLication Support, 1Password 4 (possibly you have to go to the sqlite file inside this). And, yes, it may well say 1Password 4 even if you are using 1PW5.

    Hi @BlazeD,

Are you seeing a system popup message asking "where is 2BUABC4S2C.com.agilebits.onepas?" **

We have seen a few other forum posts about this message, and we believe it to be a system message produced by an unstable OS.

I'll recommend to you what I recommended on another post: try verifying and/or repairing your hard drive. Open your Mac's built-in Disk Utility application and select Macintosh HD (or whatever your hard drive is named) > first aid > verify disk.

Please do let us know if this solves the issue. I'd also be curious to know if you've noticed any particular action or actions that consistently trigger this popup window, or if it happens at random.

** If the answer is no and your post is not in reference to this popup message, then can you please give us more detail about what you're experiencing? You said 1Password stopped working; does this mean you're unable to launch the app at all, or that it's not filling logins in the browser properly, or something else?

this in not the problem I am having. first, I open 1pw, then it asks me if I am a new user or previous user. when I click on I have used 1password before it then asks me where my data is... and I have no idea... I would think if it is on my mac (which it should be) it would find it. I do a search for .opvault and I find nothing.

Oh, I see! Thank you for clarifying that, @BlazeD. I was way off! Sorry about that. In this case, I have an answer and a few more questions.

    Answer:
You're right that the app should find the data if it's in the usual places. By default, 1Password 5 for Mac (from AgileBits Store, not from Mac App Store), stores its vault at this filepath: ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/Data/OnePassword.sqlite.
But if it's asking you where the data is, that means it's not where it should be.

    Questions:

    • What version of 1Password did you use on this Mac before?
    • Were you previously syncing to Dropbox or any other device?
    • Did you do anything with 1Password or on your computer right before this happened? Did you reformat your hard drive, move files around, or use a third-party app cleaning utility like CleanMyMac?

Hopefully this information will help us find your data if it's still there. Thanks in advance!
