Problems when syncing 1password.agilekeychain file in Dropbox
I have been using dropbox and 1Password for years on multiple Macs/Iphones.
Just recently my Macbook keeps updating a file and labeling it as a conflicted copy. It wont stop. There are many conflicted copies, just like this one, being stored in:
1password.agilekeychain-a-default-files-D0B46AE3415D437EBD0FC51BFE23CC12-897C6F0E9BB442F18008A340A5DF24DE (hector’s MacBook Pro's conflicted copy 2015-06-16).icn
Please advise
1Password Version: 1Password 5 Version 5.4.BETA-17 (540017) Agile Bet
Extension Version: 4.3.1.90
OS Version: 10.10.3
Sync Type: dropbox

Hi @buenhec ,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with Dropbox sync right now. Let's try resetting sync to see if that helps.
On your iOS devices, open 1Password for iOS, tap Settings > Sync > Sync Service, and tap Disable Sync.
On the Mac, open 1Password for Mac, and click the 1Password menu, then Preferences. Click Sync, and click Change syncing.
Check the box to remove the data from Dropbox and confirm that you want to disable sync.
Reboot the Mac and iOS devices.
Check your Dropbox folder and delete any other 1Password folders or files that the remove data checkbox did not take care of.
On the Mac, go back to the Sync preferences, and click Dropbox. Click Choose vault, then navigate to your Dropbox folder and select Open. This will regenerate a 1Password folder in Dropbox, and that will contain a new 1Password.agilekeychain file.
Allow Dropbox to fully sync.
Go back into the iOS app and re-enable Dropbox sync. That should get everything on the same page for sure.

Thank you Megan. I followed those steps and for a day or so the problem was alleviated. But it started again already. I am getting conflicted copies syncing continuously. It only happens on my macbook. My Imac and Iphone seem to work fine.
Please advise

Hi @buenhec,
That's strange, I'm not sure why that's happening. Just to confirm, when you followed Megan's steps, you chose the option to "Delete data from Dropbox" when disabling Dropbox sync on your Mac?
Also, does it seem to matter if the main 1Password app is open? If you're not sure, please try quitting 1Password, then see if the conflicted copies still have the same problem in your .agilekeychain. Thanks!

Drew, you are correct. It seems to be happening when 1P is open. I am also having trouble with the 1P extension on Chrome 43.0.2357, not sure if the problem is related.

Hi @buenhec,
I would like you to create the following Diagnostic Report please. This guide will assist.
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums
The email address you will want to use is support+forum@agilebits.com
When sending the diagnostic report to the address above it would help immensely if you could include a link to this thread and your forum handle so we can connect the two.
Once you've sent the report a post here with the ticket ID will help us to keep an eye out for it. With access to the report we should be able to better assist you

Hi @buenhec,
We've received your Diagnostics Report - thanks for sending it in! I see that someone from our support team has already responded - please let us know if you do not see an email in your inbox. We'll keep the conversation going directly via email to avoid complicating things between here and there. :)

Hello, I have not seen a response or I may have missed it. Can you please resend?
Thanks

Hi @buenhec,
I've just resent the email. I don't know if it makes a difference or not but it wasn't sent to the same email address that you're using here in the forums. It might be worth checking your spam folder too for that account. Let us know if don't receive anything though.

Hi @buenhec,
When you sent the Diagnostics Report, it came from your @me.com email account, so that's the one we replied to. I noticed you have a different email address associated with your forum handle here, so I have forwarded the email to that address. Sorry for the confusion! Please let us know here if you still don't receive it; otherwise let's continue the conversation via email to work toward a solution to your Dropbox sync troubles. Thanks! :)

Sorry,
I am receiving all my emails from both accounts. I still have not received the results of the diagnostic report and instructions on how to resolve this issue. It is really bugging me now.Can you please advise?
Thanks

Hi @buenhec,
I'm so sorry you haven't been receiving our emails! Have you already checked the junk/spam folder? The latest one was sent Tue, 30 Jun 2015 at 02:05 pm PDT, from support@agilebits.com, with the subject "Re: [#CVB-49633-826] 1Password 4 Diagnostics Report for (your name)."
However, the email was just suggesting that you reset Dropbox sync, which you said above that you have already done. (This suggestion was repeated because there was no mention of this forum thread in your email.) If you're unable to receive our emails, we can continue the conversation here because we were at least able to receive the Diagnostics Report from you, which was the important part.
You've mentioned using 1Password on multiple Macs, and that this only happens on the MacBook. If you're using 1Password on another Mac at this time, which has an up-to-date vault and is not encountering this problem, then I'd suggest following Megan's instructions to reset Dropbox sync from that other Mac; i.e., disable sync on all devices and re-enable first from the other Mac.
If that's not an option, please let us know each of the devices you're syncing your 1Password data with.
You also mentioned a problem with the Chrome extension. Can you tell us more about that please? Thank you!

Hello,
My problem continues.....
So i deleted all 1p files and keychain from dropbox and the data from all the devices. Then chose dropbox again and created a new keychain. I am getting the conflicted copy issue again on both the macbook and the Imac. Its pretty frustrating. Suggestions?0 -
Hi @buenhec,
I'm sorry you're still having trouble with that! I take it you never received any of the emails we sent you?
You said you deleted "the data from all the devices". Do you mean you actually deleted all the 1Password data stored locally on each Mac and iOS device? If so, did you restore it from a backup? Or were you just referring to the .agilekeychain files that are stored in Dropbox?
By the way, can you please let us know the exact version of 1Password you're currently using on each Mac? In your original message, you said you were using 5.4.BETA-17, but we've released several new beta updates since then. Which one are you using now? Have you tried switching back to the latest stable release (version 5.3.2) to see if that makes any difference?

I deleted the keychain files from Dropbox as instructed. I am using version 5.4 Beta 27.

Hi @buenhec,
What is the current state of your 1Password vault on your iMac? Given it seems your MacBook Pro is at fault here I'm strongly tempted to suggest we remove the Agile Keychain (it sounds like it's messed up again) but this time to also follow the How do I start over with an empty vault? guide on your MacBook Pro. At this stage we're moving folders rather than deleting so nothing is unrecoverable. Having cleared the MacBook Pro, you could create a new Agile Keychain from your iMac and have that new Agile Keychain populate a fresh vault on your MacBook Pro.
This is only viable if the vault on your iMac is up to date. The easiest way to judge this would be to sort your items by Date Modified in the Item list header (see our Item List page for more) and compare against your MacBook Pro.
Do keep us informed
