Local works fine, Dropbox doesn't work

Hi there!

I have some troubles with synchronising my 1Pass data.

I have uploaded my .agilekeychain to Dropbox. But when I couple 1Pass to that file within Dropbox, nothing happens. The vault is empty. But when I download the .agilekeychain from Dropbox, and I upload it to 1Pass (local), everything works out fine. Unfortunately, it have to synchronise, because I also use 1Pass on my iPhone and iPad.

What is going wrong...?

Hope to hear soon from you guys. Thanks in advance!

    Hi @lotte01,

I'm sorry you're having trouble with Dropbox sync on your Mac! I'm sure we can help to get that all sorted out, and just to make sure I understand your setup and what you've tried, can you elaborate on a few things:

I have uploaded my .agilekeychain to Dropbox.

Did you do that by setting up Dropbox sync on your iPhone and/or iPad (you mentioned you also use 1Password on those)? Or if not, where is the .agilekeychain from?

But when I couple 1Pass to that file within Dropbox, nothing happens. The vault is empty.

What are the steps you took to sync 1Password with that .agilekeychain file? You should have the Dropbox app installed and set up with your Dropbox account, and the .agilekeychain will need to have fully downloaded to the Dropbox folder on your Mac (if you check that file in the Dropbox folder on your Mac, it should have a symbol to indicate if it's fully downloaded, or in the process of downloading).

But when I download the .agilekeychain from Dropbox, and I upload it to 1Pass (local), everything works out fine.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, since the .agilekeychain should already be downloaded locally on your Mac (in your Dropbox folder). Do you mean you downloaded a separate copy of the .agilekeychain from the Dropbox website, and used the Folder sync option in 1Password to sync its data?

If so, then I'm not sure how you get back to having an empty vault. Once you sync with that file and see your data, it should still be there even if you disable sync. But I'm likely misunderstanding the steps you're taking.

Sorry for all the questions! Once you can fill us in on those details, I think we should have a much better understanding of what's happening, and how to solve it. Thanks in advance! :)

    Hi @Drew_AG,

    Thanks for your reply!

Somehow I did it all again (exactly the same way) and it works out. Sorry!

    Even though, many thanks!

@lotte01: Thanks for the update. On behalf of Drew_AG, you're welcome. I'm glad it's working for you now!

I run into the same issue myself sometimes, if Dropbox hasn't completed transmitting data. It's usually just a short while before it will work. Cheers! :)
