I've just installed 1 password app but when it comes to syncing the primary vault with iCloud the options are - none, dropbox or folder. NO iCloud.
I've purchased my Mac version directly from the App Store, today. So it's 5.3.2
I have also iOS license, version 5.4.2
iCloud Drive is up and running in my Mac
I'm running Yosemite 10.10.3
My iOS 1 Password is syncing succesfully with iCloud, but I cannot get Mac OS 1 Password to even let me choose iCloud as a syncing option.

1Password Version: 5.3.2
Extension Version: 4.3.1.90
OS Version: OSX 10.10.3
Sync Type: iCloud

Just on the off-chance, does anything in the AgileBits iCloud FAQ help you at all?

That looks as though you are using the version direct from AgileBits, even though you bought from the App Store. Perhaps you have both versions.

Take a look at what "about 1PW" in the 1PW menu says. It will say where you got it from.

    Hi @joaquinmarquez,

As danco said, it sounds like you actually have the AgileBits Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac installed, even though you may have purchased it from the Mac App Store. Currently, the latest version from the AgileBits Store is 5.3.2, and the latest version from the Mac App Store is 5.3. The About 1Password menu item in the 1Password app will confirm which one is installed.

Just in case it helps, we have some more information in this knowledgebase article: I do not see the option to sync with iCloud in 1Password for Mac

In short, if you purchased 1Password from the Mac App Store today, then you can launch the Mac App Store, go to the Purchases section, and install 1Password from there (make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to make the purchase). Please also take a look at this article for help to switch from the AgileBits Store version to the Mac App Store version: Switching to the version of 1Password from the Mac App Store

Sorry for any confusion about all that! If you need more help or have questions, please let us know. :)

Hi - I literally just purchased a license for my 1Password app that I had downloaded from your website last year. I did this so that I could enable iCloud syncing but when I have added the licence there is still no option for iCloud syncing in preferences.

A quick search on your forums revealed that this is a common problem for the Beta version...Can you help me get my version switched over to the apple version so that I can get iCloud sync up and running.

AgileBits can't actually switch, as they don't have access to the Apple App Store. However they can and will refund your purchase so that you can buy at the App Store.

    Hi @wrpvincent,

The AgileBits Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac doesn't have iCloud sync - adding a license won't change that. As far as the beta version goes, it doesn't have iCloud sync because it's a beta version of the AgileBits Store version of 1Password.

iCloud sync is only available in the Mac App Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac. That's because it uses Apple's CloudKit technology, which can currently only be used by apps sold through Apple's App Store. We'd absolutely love to be able to include that in the AgileBits Store version of 1Password as well, but unfortunately that's not currently possible. We have more information in these knowledgebase articles:

Unfortunately Apple doesn't currently provide a way to convert a license for the AgileBits Store version of 1Password to the Mac App Store version. So if you wanted the Mac App Store version of 1Password, you would need to purchase that separately. If you bought the AgileBits Store version of 1Password within the last 30 days, we can refund that - just email us at support+licenses@agilebits.com to request a refund, and include the email address you used to make that purchase so we can find it in our system.

I wanted to mention that Dropbox sync is also a great sync option. It's how many of us here have always synced our 1Password data. 1Password is secure by design and your 1Password data is end-to-end encrypted, so with regard to security there's no difference between syncing 1Password data with Dropbox or iCloud. 1Password simply doesn't depend on the security of either to protect your data.

Dropbox also has the advantage that it can be used to sync secondary vaults, and also share vaults with friends, family, and co-workers (it's not currently possible to share anything between iCloud accounts). And it's the only sync solution that works across all platforms supported by 1Password: Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android.

Hopefully this helps to clear up the confusion! If you have more questions, just let us know. :)

Thanks Drew. I am a little annoyed that this wasn't made clear on your website before I purchased the licence, but as long as I get a refund thats fine.

    Hi @wrpvincent,

It looks like we processed your refund yesterday, so you should see the funds within a few days.

We do try to make it clear in many locations that iCloud is only available in the Mac App Store. It's noted on the product page, in several pages of the knowledgebase, and even right on the store page where you buy it:

But again, we do apologize for the misunderstanding. The 40% off sale will be ending soon, so we encourage you to take advantage of the sale in the Mac App Store ASAP. :) Happy syncing!
