Change license or refund for student?
Dear 1Password,
I recently ( les then 4 days ago ) bought the App for Mac ( 1Password 5 ) and for iOS. I just discovered that I can get a "Better" deal when I apply for the student license. I also need the Windows version. Should I refund the App/iOS app trough Apple and buy the student pakket or can you change my license?

If you bought your license at Apple's Mac App Store, the AgileBits folks will not be able to issue a refund. Only Apple can do that. And they provide no information about purchasers to any developers, so AgileBits won't even have a record that you are a user. Although Apple's official policy is that all sales are final, they do sometimes issue refunds, which you could request by clicking the report-a-problem link in your receipt. If they do issue a refund, you'd then be free to go the the AgileBits web store and buy a student license.
Be aware, though, that if you want to use iCloud for syncing, only the version sold by Apple will have that option. The student licensed version from AgileBits can't use iCloud because Apple doesn't allow access to the required protocols to applications that they don't sell themselves through one of their App Stores. And Apple doesn't provide any way to offer discounts or upgrade pricing to its users.

Thank you for the answer, for clarification. Yes I bought it trough the app store because of de iCloud sync options. Seems I'll just have to buy the student pack separately (:

You won't be able to use iCloud for syncing with the Windows version.

And technically Dropbox sync, which is available on all platforms, is as good or better than iCloud sync. But you may well have reasons for preferring iCloud.

I hope the information from hawkmoth and danco has been helpful, even if it isn't necessarily what you wanted to hear. As they've said, we're only able to give discounts through our own website, we don't have the ability to do that through Apple's App Stores. If you'd like to make the purchase from the AgileBits Store store instead, you should first see if you're able to get a refund for the Mac App Store version from Apple. Please note this only applies to the Mac version of 1Password - the iOS version can only be sold through Apple, so we aren't able to give an educational discount for that on our website.
Before seeking a refund from Apple, remember that the AgileBits Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac doesn't have the iCloud sync feature. If that's important to you, you should stick with the Mac App Store version. However, the Windows version of 1Password doesn't have iCloud sync either.
