Is there a way to close or hide the left sidebar?

Hi @jeffdb5,
No, I'm afraid there's currently no option to close or hide the left sidebar in 1Password. Is there a particular reason why you wouldn't want to see it? I don't think I've heard this question before, and it's something I use all the time in 1Password, so I'm just curious about how the way you use 1Password might be different than the way I do. We're always eager to hear feedback from our customers! :)

I'd like to use it on one half of my monitor. I use the Cinch application to resize my apps half and half (similar to to what Windows does and what the forthcoming El Capitan will do), and even if I attempt to resize 1Password manually, it will only go so far. So in other words I can't get it "skinny" enough. I don't use the sidebar, I just use the search function and am able to find everything (at least on a day to day basis). So if I could hide the sidebar that would allow me to make it small enough. I did find a similar request for this in your forum dated last year, and the response at the time was you'd had a few requests for it, and it was something that was being looked at. Was checking to see if there was any progress made. Thanks for your quick response!

Hi @jeffdb5,
Thanks, I see what you mean. It sounds like we've heard this request before. Would you be able to find that thread again and give a link to it? That might help me find the feature request in our system to see if there's any progress on that. And of course, I can add your request to that (although I can't make any promises about if/when that will be added).
For now, the only workaround I can think of is that if you position the 1Password window on the left side of the screen, you could move it far enough to the left that the sidebar would be hidden off-screen. I know that's probably not quite what you want, but maybe it will help?

Sure thing, here's the link: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/19923/can-the-sidebar-be-hidden
Thanks again, and I will try your suggestion!

Hi @jeffdb5,
I've done a bit of searching and I have found a feature request. It doesn't seem to have attracted a lot of attention so it would seem it has simply been forgotten about over a mix of important bug fixes (aren't they always ) and other feature requests or trying to keep up with sweeping visual changes to operating system,
I've added your request to it as every vote counts but while I certainly see your motivation (Cinch user here too - great application!) I can't say how likely this is to appear. I notice for example that it isn't simply a matter of hiding just the Sidebar as this is where the window management buttons are, what with Yosemite's option of having no visible bar at the top of the window.
I have added your vote though and we will do so for anybody else that would like to see this happen.
