disable Safari autofill only when generating and saving passwords or thereafter, too?

I found that the above instructions for Safari were helpful in getting 1Password to generate and save new passwords. But once you're done with that part, should you leave those boxes unchecked? When going back to those websites, it would be nice if I didn't have to go back to 1Password and enter my Master Password and instead have Safari autofill it. Or is that a minor inconvenience I should put up with because of some downside associated with Safari autofilling? Thanks.

    Hi @eturnermd,

1Password works best when it's allowed to replace browser auto-filling. But if you find that you're being prompted to enter your Master Password more often than you'd like, you can uncheck some boxes under 1Password > Preferences > Security > Auto-lock. When you're browsing with 1Password unlocked, you can just use the convenient ⌘\ keyboard shortcut to fill and submit logins.

And your data is more secure in 1Password than in your browser. I'm sure you saw this in the article, but it bears repeating:

    IMPORTANT
If you have saved any passwords in your browser, don’t delete these until you’ve created corresponding entries in 1Password. Once you have switched fully to 1Password, removing the passwords stored in your browser can plug a potential hole in your computer’s security.

So of course it's your call, but we do recommend fully disabling the browser's autofill options, both for security and to avoid potential filling conflicts. You've paid for 1Password; might as well let it do all the work, right? ;)
