Multiple users and multiple vaults sharing ONE DropBox account?

My Bride (of the last 47.5 years) and I share a Family License for 1PW. We both use DropBox (separate accounts) and both access our separate vaults with a mix of Macs, PCs and iToys. (We know one another's Master Passwords - so there's no issue of "secrecy" between us. But separate vaults seems like a good idea - just like separate checking accounts and separate bathrooms.)

MY DropBox account has 1TB of memory available. She's running out of room in her DropBox space.

SO - - I want to move all of her DropBox files into MY DropBox space and have both of us use 1PW vaults (separate - but shared later - once we make this work) in my DropBox space. We'll both sign onto DropBox with MY ID/PW.

Will this present any problem for 1PW?

Thanks for a superb product - - - and for your assistance.

    Hi @PeterW,

Separate bathrooms is not a good idea - it's a great idea! ;)

Anyway, your idea shouldn't cause any problems for 1Password at all. There are just a couple things to keep in mind that will help make the switch easier:

Before switching to your Dropbox account on her computers/devices, she might want to disable Dropbox sync for each of her vaults in 1Password (on each computer/device). This mostly just avoids some error messages - either way, she'll need to re-enable Dropbox sync for each vault after you make the switch. The Windows version of 1Password doesn't have an option to enable/disable Dropbox sync, so just make sure you close 1Password on Windows before switching.

To avoid confusion, it will probably help to keep her .agilekeychain files in a separate folder within your Dropbox account. This will be necessary for at least the keychain that syncs with her Primary vault, because it probably has the same name as yours: 1Password.agilekeychain. Technically you could rename that if you want to keep all the keychains in the same folder, but it's probably easier to just keep them separate.

That's really all I can think of to mention. It should actually be pretty easy, and it sounds like you know what you're doing as far as moving her Dropbox files to your own Dropbox account. If you have any other questions about that, just let us know - we're always happy to help!
