Received this message when trying to open 1Password: "an important component is missing from 1Password. Re-installing 1Password 'as administrator' might correct this problem." My other synced devices, an iPad Air and iPhone 5, still work fine. What should I do?

1Password Version: 5.1.2
Extension Version: 4.3.1.90
OS Version: windows 7
Sync Type: dropbox

  • Hi @jmccowan,

Did you recently update 1Password on your computer? Try this:

    1. Open the Control Panel on your computer, go to the Programs and Features
    2. Uninstall 1Password, this won't affect your data
    3. Restart your PC and once it is back up, download and save (don't run automatically) the latest copy of 1Password from here: http://agilebits.com/downloads

Run the installer for 1Password and see if it opens now.

When I went to look for 1Password in my programs and Features list, it was not there. Can I just download the new version from http://agilebits.com/downloads?

  • Hi @jmccowan,

Yes, go ahead and download it. Hopefully, that'll install everything for you.
