I can't sync my iphone 6 with my mac air over wifi anymore
Previously the wifi sync worked between my iphone 6 and mac air. I don't want to sync except by wifi. I rebooted both mac air and iphone 6. The "refresh" screen on my phone doesn't do anything else except show "refresh."
Thank you.

Hi @doctorjld,
The first thing I'd recommend checking, just as a sanity measure, is that Wi-Fi Sync is still enabled on your MacBook Air. I can't think how it could have been disabled but that would be one solid reason why a Mac isn't showing up in the list of machines you could sync with.
If your MacBook Air is still set up to act as a Wi-Fi Sync server then it seems like we possibly have a networking/Bonjour issue.
We use Bonjour for device discovery and for Bonjour to work both devices have to be on the same subnet. If you're using a consumer router at home then it's very likely all your devices are on the same subnet so it shouldn't be that.
Something to try would be to reset the router and see if that helps at all.
If you're still having no joy then the next step is to see if creating an ad-hoc network makes any difference. What we're doing here is removing the possibility of something network related being the cause by setting up a temporary network between just your MacBook Air and your iPhone to test and see if this works. Instructions on how to do this can be found on our page, How to create an ad-hoc wireless network.
So we've got a couple of things to test. Hopefully one of these will help. If the top three don't but the ad-hoc network suggestion does then we need to figure out why. We'll cross that bridge if we need to though.

Hi,
Thank you very much. I ended up not using any of your very thoughtful suggestions. It must have been my friend's network, because when I got home, I tried to sync over my usual network and it worked. I didn't think that this made a difference because it has worked in the past. So now I will just be sure to sync on my network only.
Again thanks.0 -
Hi @doctorjld,
If you're round at your friends again and you're curious it would be interesting to see if an attempt to use Wi-Fi Sync results in the same behaviour. If it does and if your friend is willing it would be interesting to know if a reboot of the router resolves it. Of course this is all about satisfying curiosity. Obviously we're glad to hear it works on your network where it's probably used more.
