I'm trying to add a license, but there's no link in the email
I bought 1Password before you upgraded to 5. I had 1Password5 working on my computer but had to restore it completely and lost all of that information. I'm now trying to put the license information back in to 1Password but because there's no link in my information it won't allow me to enter the license information. I tried searching your help center but nothing was particularly helpful for my situation. Any ideas here?

Hi @goshthatspretty,
Thanks for taking the time to contact us. I'm sorry that you are having some trouble.
I found your license in our system, and it appears that you have an old license from 2011 for 1Password 3 for Mac. Since you purchased 1Password 3 for Mac, we have released two major upgrades for Mac: 1Password 4 and 1Password 5. If you'd like to upgrade, you can enter your existing license key on the upgrade page to receive a discount: https://agilebits.com/store/upgrade
Alternatively, you could just continue using 1Password 3 for Mac if you don't want to upgrade. It can be downloaded near the bottom of this page: https://agilebits.com/downloads#legacy_versions
If you did purchase an upgrade to 1Password 4 or 5, and I'm just not seeing it, please let me know. It's possible you purchased a 1Password 5 for Mac license under a different email address. Another possibility is that you purchased 1Password 5 for Mac on the Mac App Store.

It's the last one, I remember buying it from the App Store under the same email address. I hope that continues to count because I recall paying for it. I'm sure I have the receipt somewhere.

If you did in fact buy it from the Mac App Store, as opposed to from the AgileBits store, you can simply download it again without charge—so long as you're using the same Apple ID as you used when you bought it.

Hi @goshthatspretty,
If the 1Password 5 app requires you to add a license, then it sounds like you downloaded it from our website. But as Stephen mentioned, if you bought it from the Mac App Store, you'll need to reinstall it from there instead. Just launch the Mac App Store, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to make the purchase, and reinstall 1Password from the Purchases section.
Does that help? Hopefully that clears up the confusion, but if you have more questions about that, just let us know. :)

Ooooooo, that makes so much more sense. I'll do that now. Thank you.

Hi @goshthatspretty,
Sorry for any confusion there! We hope that goes smoothly for you. And once you have the Mac App Store version of 1Password installed (it will be called 1Password.app), you can then move 1Password 5.app to the trash, to avoid confusion.
