Right-click on agilekeychain doesn't offer "show package contents"
Everything works fine on my Mac Mini. But I made a mistake while setting up my MacBook Pro. DropBox works just fine but the 1Password opening panel doesn't display. I've followed the debug process up to the point at which I right-click on the agilekeychain ikon but it doesn't offer "show package contents." Shall I just start the installation process from the start?

Hi @BobSwift,
I'm sorry you're having trouble with 1Password on your MacBook Pro! That sounds like a very strange issue, and to make sure I understand what you mean, can you please clarify something:
the 1Password opening panel doesn't display
What exactly do you mean by "opening panel"? Are you talking about the window you should see when you launch the main 1Password app from the Applications folder? Or something else?
I noticed you said you're using 1Password version 5.3, but that your Mac OS X version is 10.9.5 (Mavericks). If so, that might explain the problem, because 1Password 5 requires Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite). But in that case, I would expect that you'd get some sort of error message if you tried to open 1Password 5 on Mavericks. Can you please confirm which version of Mac OS X is on your MacBook Pro, and which version of the 1Password app? And are you using the AgileBits Store or Mac App Store version of 1Password?
I've followed the debug process up to the point at which I right-click on the agilekeychain ikon but it doesn't offer "show package contents."
Which "debug process" are you referring to here? I just to make sure I understand what troubleshooting steps you're following. If it's something you found on our support site, can you let us know the link?
As for not seeing an option for "Show Package Contents" when you right-click on the .agilekeychain, that's very strange because that's a function of the Mac operating system. You should see that option when right-clicking on any bundle, which is essentially a folder on Mac OS that looks/behaves like a single file. Applications (with a .app extension) should work the same way. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps the .agilekeychain has not been fully downloaded to your Mac from the Dropbox servers? The keychain needs to be completely downloaded to your Mac first, before you set up Dropbox sync in 1Password.
I also noticed you Dropbox in the description of your problem, but for "Sync Type" you said "iCloud". Can you please confirm which sync method you're using in 1Password?
Shall I just start the installation process from the start?
You can certainly try that if you'd like. On your MacBook Pro, you can follow the steps in this knowledgebase article to reset the 1Password app.
Looking forward to hearing back from you, thanks!

This is the “opening panel” on my Mini. I’ve seen nothing like it on the MacBook.

This is from my Mini: 1Password is from the app store.

Following these links I’m told to deal with: 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword,
But though I’ve followed the GOTO and searched as best I can using other search tools, I’m convinced that 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword doesn’t exist on my MacBook.
Is there another method for uninstalling 1Password and starting over?
Thanks.
Bob
Oh Dear, The more sophisticated system of saving screen shots now in use is giving me fits.

Hi @BobSwift,
I'm afraid the only screenshot that was included in your message was of a knowledgebase article about 1PasswordAnywhere (and I'm not sure which part of your message it is supposed to go with, as it doesn't seem to match any of your descriptions). None of the others came through.
Would it be possible to try posting those screenshots again? To include screenshots in your reply, click the document button in the top of the comment field, and select the file you wish to share:
Please also let us know the answers to my questions from my previous response, as it doesn't sound like they'll all be answered by the screenshots. For example, 1Password version, Mac OS X version, if you're using the Mac App Store or AgileBits Store version of 1Password, if the .agilekeychain is fully downloaded to your Mac from Dropbox, and the sync method you're using/trying to use.
Once we know those details and can see your screenshots, I think we'll have a much better idea of what's happening on your end so we can help to solve it. Thanks in advance!

This is the continuation of the issue we were discussing yesterday. New screen shots may help.

Hi @BobSwift,
I saw that you started a new thread with four screenshots that would continue the conversation started in this thread, so I merged that post back into this thread, but some bug in the forum seems to have deleted the screenshots in the merging process. This was completely unexpected and I apologize. Can you please add the screenshots again? Thank you!

1Password version 5.3
Mac OS X version 10.9.5 on Macbook 10.10.3 on the Mini
Mac App Store Version
.agilekeychain is fully downloaded to my Mac Mini but apparently not on the MacBook
I don't know the the sync method but it's working fine back and forth.
Next is the trouble shooting screen which directs me to right-click
This is the file that is apparently missing on the MacBook because right-click doesn't offer Show Package Contents" 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper
(I've copied the filename from the Mini.)
Hope this helps,
Bob

Hi @BobSwift,
Thanks for the screenshots! I see that 3 screenshots were attached to your latest message - one of the "About 1Password" window on your Mac Mini, one of the "About this Mac" window on your MacBook Pro, and a copy of the screenshot you previously sent which shows part of this knowledgebase article: 1PasswordAnywhere: A key data file could not be loaded
One of the steps on that page asks you to view the package contents of 1Password.agilekeychain, which you mentioned you're unable to do. However, that article is about a problem trying to use the 1PasswordAnywhere feature, so I might be confused because I was under the impression you were having trouble setting up the 1Password app on your MacBook Pro.
I'm also a little confused about something else you mentioned:
This is the file that is apparently missing on the MacBook because right-click doesn't offer Show Package Contents" 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper
The article about troubleshooting the 1PasswordAnywhere problem doesn't mention anything about "2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper" so I wonder if you're referring to the "starting over" steps (which I gave you a link for in a previous reply): How do I start over with an empty vault?
Now, I also noticed you've told us which version of 1Password is installed on your Mac Mini, but haven't said which version is on your MacBook Pro. Is it possible you haven't installed the 1Password app on your MacBook Pro, and were trying to use 1PasswordAnywhere instead, but ran into a problem trying to do that? If so, I think we've misunderstood what you're trying to do.
So to make sure we understand: Are you simply trying to use the 1PasswordAnywhere feature (i.e. view your 1Password data from your account on the Dropbox.com website) or are you trying to install the 1Password app and sync it with your data in Dropbox? We're happy to help with either of those things, of course. Please let us know, and we'll be able to continue helping you from there. Thanks so much for your patience while we try to help sort this all out! :)

Yes I am trying to set up the 1Password app on my MacBook Pro.

Yes, that is where I went astray. I thought (wrongly I guess!) using 1PasswordAnywhere was the way to set up 1Password on my MacBook Pro. I conclude it’s not.
Taking into consideration the missteps I’ve already taken, what’s the easiest way to to set up 1Password on my MacBook Pro?0 -
Hi @BobSwift,
Thanks for confirming that. I'm so sorry for all the confusion! Fortunately it should be pretty easy to get everything set up now:
- On your MacBook Pro, launch the Mac App Store and make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase 1Password.
- Go to the Purchases section and click the Install button next to 1Password.
- After downloading, go to the Applications folder and double-click on 1Password.app to open it.
- During the setup, you will be able to choose the same sync method you use for 1Password (i.e. iCloud or Dropbox).
That should be all you need to do, but if you run into any problems or questions, just let us know! :)

Thank you all for your marvelous support. Since the App store wouldn't let me in I was unable to follow your instructions. I've now down loaded 1Password 4.4.3 to my MacBook and it self installed. Wow.
In view of my trouble with the App Store I've filed for a refund through PayPal. Whether or not it comes through I want Agilebits to receive the $49.99 from me.
My PayPal complaint:
_I purchased 1Password with the understanding that it could be installed on both my Macs (Mac Mini and MacBook Pro.) The installation on my Mini worked perfectly and is very useful. BUT I cannot get it installed on my MacBook Pro!The support staff at the developer's site Agilebits) have worked methodically and patiently with me over the past several days, but there is nothing further they can do, so they've suggested I go back to the seller and from them download "1Password" to my MacBook. I tried unsuccessfully to log in to the App Store for over an hour.
Then I called in a friend who is more mac savvy than am I. Over an hour of her time wasted as well.
I am now going to Agilebits and purchase !Password from them, secure in the knowledge that IF I should encounter a problem they will be able to set things right.
I'll temporarily be out $49, but I'm confident that Apple will give me a full refund._

Hi @BobSwift,
I'm not sure why you had trouble with the Mac App Store. When you say it "wouldn't let me in" do you mean you weren't able to launch the Mac App Store application on your MacBook? Or you opened it but were unable to sign into your Apple ID? If you're able to sign in and find 1Password listed on the Purchases section, it should give you the option to install 1Password 4 on that Mac. But if you're having trouble using the Mac App Store in general, I'm sure Apple can help to solve that.
It sounds like you installed version 4 from our website instead. As long as you're using Dropbox sync, you should be fine. On the other hand, if you've been using iCloud sync in 1Password 5 on your Mac Mini, that's not going to work between the two different versions of 1Password. I'm not actually sure which sync method you've been using or trying to use, but if you're trying to use iCloud sync, I can go into more detail about that.
It sounds like you're trying to get a refund from Apple for your 1Password purchase. If Apple refuses the refund, please send us an email with a copy of your receipt from Apple and a copy of their refusal email, and we can set you up with a license for the AgileBits Store version. You can send that email to this address: support+licenses@agilebits.com
If you email us, please also include a link to this forum discussion in your email, along with your forum username so we can "connect the dots". Thanks!
