Strange new problem with autofill

Hello!

I've been a long time 1Password user and it's been working great so far, but recently I've come across a bizarre issue and I can't seem to find a solution.

I'm on a Mac running OS 10.10.3 and 1Password 5.3 (530029). I'm a web developer and login in to a lot of WordPress based websites. The problem is that, when autofill is enabled, any WordPress based website will autofill with a username of 'undefined' and an unknown password. I'm on Chrome version 43.0.2357.130 (64-bit)

I have no idea where this data is coming from or what to do about it. I had to turn off autofill, but would like to fix this so I can reenable it.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi @kcrusher,

I'm sorry you're having trouble with that!

1Password doesn't actually have an "auto-fill" feature. In other words, 1Password does not automatically detect that you have a Login saved for the page displayed in your browser and fill it for you. 1Password only fills a login form on a website when you explicitly tell it to do so by double-clicking a Login item in the main 1Password app, or by selecting the Login item from the 1Password extension in your web browser (or using the ⌘\ keyboard shortcut). We have more information here: Why doesn’t 1Password automatically fill forms when the page loads?

When you say this problem happens "when autofill is enabled", do you mean you navigate to the site, and your username & password are automatically filled for you, without taking any action with 1Password? If so, it sounds like Chrome saved your username/password for that site and is set to automatically fill it in for you. If you'd like to turn off Chrome's autofill feature, you can follow the steps here: Disabling your web browser’s built-in password manager

I hope that helps, but if that's not the problem or I misunderstood, please let us know. Thanks!

I had been completely mistaken about 1Password being the culprit - though I'm not sure why disabling 'submit logins' had any effect.

In the end it turned out to be an extension called 'WordPress Site Manager'. The strange thing about it was that I didn't have any login info saved, so it shouldn't have been doing anything. I disabled it an now everything is working again.

Sorry to have bothered you for something that, ultimately, wasn't related to 1Password, but I really appreciate the help as it did get me on the right track...

No need to apologize, @kcrusher - it's not a problem at all! We're always happy to help, and these kinds of questions come up fairly often. It's not always obvious which software is filling forms for you on a website. I'm glad you were able to find the culprit and that things are working correctly again! :) Thanks for getting back to us to let us know how that worked out.

If you have more questions or need anything else, just let us know.
