I want to sync 1Password for Mac to iCloud, but I purchased from Agile Bits Store. What can I do?
I want to sync via iCloud because my iPad and iPhone seldom on the same WiFi network as my MacBook, and on some occasions (like right now, at a hotel), when I am on the same WiFi network, the mobile devices cannot see my MacBook, even though the Wi-Fi server is running with the "secret" showing.
1Password Version: 1Password 5 Version 5.3.2 (532001) Agile Web Store
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: OS X 10.10.3
Sync Type: iCloud

Hi @cary.millsap,
I'm sorry you're having trouble with Wi-Fi sync!
Unfortunately Apple doesn't currently provide a way to convert a license for the AgileBits Store version of 1Password to the Mac App Store version. So if you wanted the Mac App Store version of 1Password, you would need to purchase that separately.
We'll be happy to help you try to get Wi-Fi sync working if you want. Or alternately, have you considered switching to Dropbox sync? It's an excellent sync option and it's how I sync my own 1Password data. We'll be happy to help you set that up if you'd like, just let us know! (Or like I said, we'll be happy to help with Wi-Fi sync, too.)

Ugh, I love using 1Password, but this answer makes me feel like I made a mistake for having bought it from you. Sync has been a perpetual pain in the back for me. I've not been able to get it to work either with Wi-Fi or Dropbox. I was hoping the iCloud code path might be the code path I could get working.
So, trying Dropbox again now, I'm getting a "Vault Mismatch" on my iPad. It makes me worry about the safety and security of my 600-item vault. ...I definitely need help. My recently attempted Dropbox Sync has left me with 960 files in my Dropbox/1Password.agilekeychain/data/default directory, and I'm unable to sync at all.

I've had a few friends and clients get caught out by this. You guys really do need to make this much more explicit on the 1Password for Mac software page. Ideally there should be a warning next to both of the Download buttons on that page, and not just hidden away in the final paragraph. It would also help if you added the warning to the purchase, cart and checkout pages. Better to give Apple a bit of revenue then have needlessly unsatisfied customers.

Well, the iCloud info is at the very bottom of the page and mentioned just once. Many people who land on the site will be coming from review sites of visiting via links from people recommending 1Password to them – something I do often! They won't read, won't scroll, they'll just click the download link at the top of the page. It's a fairly straightforward to make this VERY IMPORTANT information more prominent. If customers are missing it then the page(s) should be better designed. It's really not rocket science – see attached graphic – it's simply good marketing and customer relations. Just my two cents hoping to make a great product even better.

There are several places where the information could be made more prominent. I suspect that AgileBits are trying to design the best web page possible, and that this is preventing them from making an improved page immediately. If I had an input to them I would go with immediate improvement, as would you.
As you say, the info is not clear on the download page. What puzzles me (though I have some ideas) is why people miss it on the purchase page. Do you have a view on this?

I've owned the product for a few years now, since version 3 at least, so long ago that I had no recollection of where I had bought it. I don't remember having ever been aware of the difference until yesterday when I reached the desperate stage where I thought maybe this third way of syncing (the iCloud Sync option) might finally be the one that works.

Hi @cary.millsap,
You have my apologies for the frustration! Not being able to sync is annoying to say the least. I'd be more than happy to help you get this straightened out - Dropbox sync should really be a good option for you, I'm sorry that it's not seeming that way at the moment.
Did you tap on the 'More info' option when you saw this 'vault mismatch' warning? This warning is sometimes a little bit more dire than it needs to be (and that's something we're working on fixing!) Often, you might find that the vaults are close to a 100% match, but there are a few extra items in your vault or in the keychain.
In addition to this, 1Password is pretty great at accurately merging items. Even if there is a discrepancy, 1Password can compare the timestamps on the item's edits and ensure that the more recent are saved. (In the event that 1Password cannot determine which edit is newer, both versions of the data will be saved within the entry to ensure that no data is lost.)
Please let me know if this helps. If you're still having trouble, let me know a bit more detail about where things are getting tangled up and we'll sort it out. :)
