Logging into iTunes

Is it possible to use 1Password so that I can log into the iTunes 'username and password' box on OSX. At the moment I have to call up my Apple ID, then copy the password paste it in, then call up 1Password a second time because it goes away, and do the same again. It would be good if I could somehow use it to log in to iTunes with a single button press.

I tried making a new blank log in with my username and password, but it still would not recognise iTunes even though iTunes was focussed in the Finder.

    Hi @yumfatbig ,

At this time, 1Password is not able to fill into non-browser Logins. Within browsers (like Safari, Chrome and Firefox) we have the 1Password browser extension that does the actual magic of filling your details into the fields, but this works only in web browsers. That same magic doesn't work in other apps.

So, your best bet is to use 1Password mini to quickly and easily access your information. Here's my workflow:

    • Use ⌘⌥\ ( Command-Option- \ ) to open 1Password mini.
    • The search field is active by default, so I just need to start typing the title of the item I wish to use.
    • Once the correct item is highlighted, I use the arrow key to view the item's details.
    • ⌘O will 'pin' those details to my screen and keep the window open so I can click to copy my details. (Clicking on the anchor icon in the bottom of the item's details will also open the window for you.)
    • Then it's one click to copy, and ⌘V to paste.

Admittedly, it's not as awesome as the filling we enjoy in the browser, but I hope this helps make things easier for you when you have to fill your details into non-browser login fields.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. :)

OK thanks. Hopefully this will be implemented in a future update.

    Hi @yumfatbig ,

Thanks so much for the feedback! We have been looking into various ways to fill in non-browser applications, but unfortunately it's not a simple matter. I would be happy to let our team know that you would be interested in such a feature though! :)
