Planning to download 1Password on 3 Mac devices. Which one should I download the product to first?
I'm tired of the password nightmare & plan to purchase & download 1Password (from Apple so I can use iCloud) & use it on my Macbook Air, iMac Desktop & iPhone. Question 1: I use my Air the most & all of my current passwords are saved on my Air on Safari. Is it a good plan to start by downloading 1Password FIRST onto my Air, and then set it up on my other devices and use iCloud to transfer my Vault to the iPhone & desktop? Question 2: I currently back up very little to iCloud (mainly my Contacts) so I have minimal "space" purchased. I have about 70 accounts/passwords. Roughly how much iCloud space I will need? Thanks ahead of time!

Hi @Deanna6325,
I'll answer your questions in reverse. Everybody gets 5GB as part of their basic iCloud account and trust me, you will have to do something spectacular to fill that. My entire Data folder for 650 items over 3 vaults comes to 6MB. So even if you include a lot of large attachments you would still struggle to put a dent in that space, at least from a 1Password perspective.
For setting everything up here is what I would recommend.
- Download and install 1Password on your MacBook Air and follow our Running 1Password for the first time guide. Add a single item, just so there is something in the vault and then set up Sync with iCloud.
- Download 1Password onto your other Macs by going via the Purchases tab in the App Store application. They should find the iCloud data automatically but if not then we have the following guide, Sync existing iCloud data.
- 1Password for iOS is a different app. You can download the free version either via iTunes or the App Store app on your iOS device. You can then set it up using our Existing 1Password user (iOS) guide. If you like the iOS version of 1Password and find need of the Pro features they can be unlocked via an in-app purchase. For a bit more information on this features this Pro Features FAQ (iOS) will hopefully prove informative.
With sync set up between all the Macs you can start populating your vault from whatever device you prefer. All the changes will propagate and what you add or modify on one should be visible on the others.
Should you have any issues though please do post back so we can assist
