Missing vault after Migration Assitant
I bought a new computer. I set up 1password5 in the new computer and used it adding several passwords. After a months, I used Yosemite Migration Assistant to transfer my apps from my old computer running Mavericks. After transfer, I opened 1password5 and tells me that I need to setup new database. I made a spotlight search and cannot find a vault file in the new computer. Can I recover that database of the new computer or is it lost forever? I am asking because I didn´t care to make a backup before Migration Assistant ran. I prefer not to store passwords in iCloud or Dropbox for the moment.
BTW Migration assistant do not transfer application support files or licenses for non Mac app store purchases.

Hi @aesenaro,
I assume you haven't been using Time Machine either when you say you didn't make a backup. If you do please let us know as we'll have an easy way of recovering your vault.
Now I'm not strong on the specifics of the Migration Assistant. I've always preferred to move things over manually and I doubt I'm going to change now.
What I'm reading though suggests that if you migrated just the apps it should only migrate those applications in the
/Applications/
folder where there isn't a newer version available on the destination machine. What I've also read, but was written with Mountain Lion in mind (so I don't know if it has changed) is that if you asked Migration Assistant to migrate your user account it will migrate the entire Library folder with no explicit indication that this is going to happen. That is where your vault is stored regardless if you purchased 1Password for Mac from our AgileBits Store or the Mac App Store so this is something you don't want overwritten.
Now as you're running 5.3.2 that tells me you're running our AgileBits Store version. Take a look in the following location and let us know what you see. The path in question is
~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/
. In there you should see aBackups
folder and aData
folder. Now if you don't have a1Password 4
folder at all that's not good news. Hopefully though we'll find something in theBackups
folder with recent dates which means recovery is possible. If you're unsure at all here are a set of steps to reach this folder.
- Open a Finder window and use the keyboard shortcut
⇧⌘G
to open a Go to the Folder window. - In there paste in the path
~/Library/Application Support/
and click on the Go button.
I've picked that path of the path because the
Application Support
folder will definitely exist and if the1Password 4
folder exists it should be either right at the top or with the first couple of entries.Let us know what you find.
0 - Open a Finder window and use the keyboard shortcut

It ain´t good news. ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/ is not to be found. Thanks a lot.

Hi @aesenaro,
So no
~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/
which must have existed prior to this migration and definitely no backups of any kind? You could try seeing if the Migration Assistant placed anything in the Trash but it's a long shot. It doesn't sound good I'm afraid :(0
