i was unable to download the extension add on file for Firefox. The reason given: connection failure at Agilebits.com

Are you by any chance using an Avast! security product? There's a bug in their software blocking downloads from our content delivery network provider. The workaround is to use our secondary download location.
Once you start the download of the Firefox extension and the download fails, you will be shown an alternate download link. You can either use the link shown on the page or you can use the following link (same URL): 1Password Firefox extension download mirror.

I use Kaspersky's security. I tried the alternate download link. That does not work. Message : The add on could not be downloaded because of a connection failure on discussions.agilebits.com

Interesting. Are you using Kaspersky Anti Virus, Internet Security, or Endpoint Security?
For each of those, you should be able to define trusted URLs in the preferences.Adding our secondary download location to the exclusion list should do the trick:

A few other suggestions:
- Download the extension with Internet Explorer and install it manually in Firefox, the how-to is explained here: https://support.1password.com/cannot-install-extension/
- Disable Kaspersky as a temporary measure (we'd suggest the first option for this reason) and then try again to install the extension in Firefox.
