1Password_Autosubmitting won't stop spinning
Hi - over the last few days I've noticed a new icon in the upper task bar of my mac. It's the 1Password cog wheel and it won't go away and won't stop spinning! If I put my cursor over the icon it says: 1Password_Autosubmitting and under that the word "running". When I see this I hit control & 1Password to quit both 1P & 1P mini. That seems to take care of it. But I'm curious why this is happening and what I can do to stop it. I was able to grab a screenshot and have attached it. Thanks!!

Extension Version: 4.4.0

Final comment .. I just quit 1P & 1P mini and the cog is still spinning. I'll try a computer reboot which should do the trick.

Hi @iamecho,
That is an annoying one. We don't understand why it's happening I'm afraid, more so because the script is a single line of code that simply tells OS X "simulate pressing the enter key". That's the entire script. As you can imagine, it can't get much simpler and you shouldn't be seeing the cog icon at all.
Now the script can be removed. Here's a link to a post I wrote about this a while ago. It may affect how well 1Password succeeds in submitting a filled page or you might not find much difference. The script can be returned/regenerated if required but at the moment this is the only real workaround we're aware of.
If you have any questions please do ask away

Thanks @littlebobbytables. I can't be 100% sure but I believe the Bank of America site triggers this situation for me. I have been troubleshooting my most frequent sites and it's only BofA I can recreate it on. Not sure that helps, but there it is :) As always, thanks for your quick response and I'll take a look at the other post.

Hi @iamecho,
This is new information so if you're finding certain sites can reliably cause this we'd be interested. Now I'm not States based so my knowledge of US banks isn't great. As a result can I ask what the URL for the login page you use is please. Some of the banks seem to have a baffling number of login pages where you'd think one page to secure and track might make more sense. I am a mere mortal though so who am I to question the grand plan

Hi @littlebobbytables
Requested URL: https://secure.bankofamerica.com/login/sign-in/signOnScreen.go
The hang-up appears to happen once you fill in your online ID & hit submit. That takes you to another page with a sitekey and a place to enter your password. I can reliably re-create the spinning wheel on step two of this process.
Hope that helps, & I'll add to this thread if I can create it elsewhere.0 -
Thank you @iamecho

P.S. @littlebobbytables I did successfully remove 1Password_Autosubmit.scpt folder to my desktop and things have been working okay since. The cog wheel flashes briefly in the tool bar but does not stay. Do you recommend I keep this folder somewhere in my finder or should I trash it entirely?

Hi @iamecho,
I'm glad the steps from littlebobbytables were helpful! Please feel free to delete the folder containing 1Password_Autosubmit.scpt, you don't need to keep it. If for some reason you needed to reinstall that script in the future, you can move the 1Password app to the Trash and reinstall it from the Mac App Store (your data is stored elsewhere on your Mac, so deleting just the app won't cause problems - just make sure you don't use any app cleaning utilities to do that).
Hopefully you're all set, but if you have more questions or need anything else, just let us know. :)

@iamecho, just a quick update on this - it turns out you don't need to delete/reinstall the 1Password app in order to reinstall the script. If you ever need to reinstall the script, just open the main 1Password app and go to 1Password > Preferences > Browser. Disable & re-enable the option for "Automatically submit logins after filling" and you'll be prompted to reinstall the script (just choose the suggested folder). Or if you forget any need help, please don't hesitate to let us know!
