Feedback on Tags in 1Password on a Mac and iOS
Great product, very handy, use it all the time. It has lovely clever features.
However, I have three big problems with the way tags work on a Mac and iOS...
The first is that I absolutely hate how tenacious 1Password is about autocompletion. It will change the case and the actual letters that I am typing if if thinks it knows better than I do. The autocomplete feature has created bizarre Frankentags that really ridiculous. This happens to me every time I use 1P. I have had to go to Notes in order to create a tag exactly the way I want it and then copy/paste it in. Suggestions that are easily selectable as I type are fine, but PLEASE don't change what I'm typing! (Or, at the very least, if I use the delete key, let me keep what I type next.) And I have reasons to choose either upper or lower case for an entry.
Second, I don't like the way the suggestions list works. For example, I have about a dozen entries that start with "Sara" or "sara". I can't even type the ones that start with "sara" because I automatically get "Sara". So, I have to select from the list that pops up, but I can't read the list because the menu pops up to the right of the cursor, even if it is near the edge of the window, which often means that all I can see is "Sara,Sara,sara,sara..."
Third, I used to be able to see all of my tags in a selected entry at a glance. I really want this feature back. The only way I can see a complete list of tags it to "Edit" the entry, click in the tags box, and then scroll through with the arrow keys on the Mac or click-and-drag on iOS. (Not to mention that facts that I need to remember the tags that I can't see anymore as I scroll.) That's kind of crazy. Just let me see everything at the item view (scrolling if necessary). Bare minimum, please allow the field to scroll without editing the entry.
There. Just had to get that off my chest.

Hi @sarandipt ,
Thanks so much for the feedback here! It's always great to hear from users who are truly passionate about a feature. I think my tag structure must be a whole lot simpler than yours as I haven't run into a lot of these complications, but I'm happy to pass your experience along to our team.
Now, tags is one of my favourite ways to keep things organized, and I've learned some great tips from other users, so I'd love to know - what are some of the ways that you currently use tags? Here are a few of the tagging tips that I've adopted for my own database:
- Wallet: add to each item that is in my wallet, so if I lose my wallet or my bag, I know instantly what needs to be replaced (thankfully haven't ever had to use this one!)
- Address/credit card: Added to Login items that have my address or credit card information on file - when I move or replace a credit card, I know exactly which sites I need to visit to update my details.
I'd love to hear a bit more about how you use tags to keep things organized! :)

I use tags all over the place. Many of them I'm not sure what they are good for until I need it.
They can be helpful as keywords to help me find something that I can't remember the name of. "What's that software that lets me do that thing to photos?" "Photography" tag. This shotgun approach accounts for the majority of my tags.
I have purchased a number of software bundles, so I tag everything in that case with both "bundle" and the specific bundle, such as "HumbleBundle 2015".
I use tags to ID what email address I have used for a given registration, because I have 4 or 5 different emails.
I use tags for my financé's logins that he's shared with me so that I don't confuse them with mine. So, "Chuck", "Sara", and "Home" for household accounts, "Work" for work info.
I use "Camera" and "Canon" for my camera and lenses, so I can see them all together.
"Training" for all educational logins.
Tags substitute for a category that doesn't exist. For example, I use the Software category to hold hardware serial numbers and warranty info, so I use "Software", "Hardware", and "Warranty".
I have multiple credit cards so I use the last four digits as tags to ID which is active for what.
I use the name of my bank to tie together my login, credit card, debit card, mortgage account, my savings, joint savings, my checking, joint checking, etc.
Company names like "Apple," "Adobe", "Google", etc.
And one of the reasons I want to see all tags at once is so that I can compare to similar entries and see if I've forgotten anything.

Hi @sarandipt ,
Thanks so much for sharing! Sounds like you've got a great system there ... and it's awesome to hear that you store so much data in 1Password - you rock. :)
As I mentioned above, I'll be sure to share your use case with our developers as we work to improve 1Password (and tags in particular) for power users such as yourself.
