I have MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad. Since I use iCloud in all three of my devices, is it necessary to use 1Browser?

    Hi @marlene,

Thanks for taking the time to write in about 1Password! I'd be happy to help you out here. Now, I'm not quite sure I understand the question here. 1Browser is our built-in browser that's available for 1Password on iOS. The reason we included a browser in 1Password is that, prior to iOS 8, there was no way for 1Password to fill your details in mobile Safari. So, our in-app browser provided the convenient automatic filling of your complicated passwords so you didn't have to switch back and forth between 1Password and mobile Safari, copying and pasting.

In iOS 8, we have the 1Password app extension that can fill your details in mobile Safari, so 1Browser might be a little less necessary in that regard. However, many users do still prefer our built-in browser, as it is tucked away behind the Master Password, and thus less visible to prying eyes if someone were to be looking at your mobile phone.

Of course, which browser you prefer is completely up to you. Does this help to answer your question? Or is there another reason that you were thinking that 1Browser was a requirement?

    Hi Megan,

Was catching up with emails from as far back as March and read "Keep In Sync" from Dave Teare about 1Browser (dated 3/22/15). Hence my query since I wasn't sure if it's a necessary feature for me. Thanks for your reply.

    Hi @marlene,

Thank you for bringing that to our attention. It does look like it might benefit from an update given all the amazing work that has gone into the iOS Safari Extension. I know the docs team has been kept busy of late as we've transitioned to a new system. The goal is to help everybody looking for assistance by making it easier to find the correct information.

I find that the iOS Safari Extension is polished enough now that I don't look at 1Browser unless I'm troubleshooting a particular issue. So like yourself it isn't what I deem a key feature for me. I hope you find the extension as useful as I do
