uninstalling the 1Password 3 browser extension

I've updated my 1Password. I'm trying to uninstall the extension from Chrome. In the instructions it says "In your web browser, manually save a new login." But it won't let me create a new login.

    Hi @bennonelson,

It sounds like a URL redirect might have caused some confusion (if I had to guess). If the goal is simply to uninstall the 1Password 3 Chrome Extension and you're happy the entire contents of your 1Password 3 vault are now in the newer version of 1Password then the following should be all you need to do.

    1. In Chrome select the menu option Window > Extensions.
    2. Click the small Trash icon to the right of the Enable checkbox for the line that says 1Password 3.9.21.90
    3. Chrome will ask for confirmation and all you need to do is click the Remove button.

    Done!

If you haven't already you would then want to install the new 1Password Chrome Extension which you can find at 1Password Browser Extensions.

If you have any questions please do ask

Did that, worked great - thanks! Now when I enter my password on the extension, at the top it says "Trial expired. Click here to buy." I just paid for the 1Password update. Please advise.

    Thanks!

I got my license # from the 1Password "find your license" generator. I've looked up trying to add it and it keeps telling me I need to buy the upgrade which I did this morning. This is getting frustrating.

  • Hi @bennonelson,

    Sorry for the trouble!

How exactly are you trying to add the license? Are you using the "Click here to apply your 1Password license" link in the license email we sent you?

I never got a link like that, only an email with a download link to a new version. I opened up the old version and re-entered my license # and even tried updating it and it says I am updated (but it was still the older version). Can I do a live chat with someone to wrap this up?

    Hi @bennonelson,

I'm sorry for the confusion here! When I searched our system for the email address from your forum account, I only found a license for 1Password 3 for Mac, and it sounds like that's the same thing you received when you had your license info resent. But then I searched for your name and found a separate record with your 1Password 5 for Mac license. The problem is that there was a small typo in the domain of your email address in that record. I've corrected that and resent your license info - when you get that new email, you should see the link to apply your license file for 1Password 5.

Again, I apologize for the confusion! You should be all set now, but if you still have questions, please let us know. :)

    Hi @bennonelson,

I've emailed you about one aspect I'm unsure of. Other than that have we managed to correct all the issues you were originally facing?
