I'm using 10.10.3 and I've checked multiple times - icloud drive is checking in my settings. I've logged out of 1password and logged in, and icloud sync is still not showing as an option.

  • Hi @april_west,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us!

When 1Password is purchased from the AgileBits Store, unfortunately iCloud cannot be used to sync. The Mac App Store version is required.

This support article has more details:

I do not see the option to sync with iCloud in 1Password for Mac

Please let us know if you have any other questions. We're always happy to help!

Ok, then how do I get a refund for the product I just bought yesterday so I can re-buy through the App Store?

  • Hi @april_west,

I have just issued you a full refund for the amount of your purchase. Please give it a few days to appear on your account.

This guide will help you switch over to the Mac App Store version:

What if we don't want to buy the Mac App Store version? I don't like sandboxed apps on my Macs and will not buy from there if there is an alternative. Also, I have a family license and don't want to give that up. And I prefer app developers I support to get all the money.

Can I use iCloud sync with my iPad and iPhone, but keep My Macs in sync with them? What would be best practice there?

    Hi @leicaman,

If you want to use iCloud sync between your Mac and iOS devices, you'll need the Mac App Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac. But there are other sync options available in the AgileBits Store version, so the choice is up to you - if you don't want to buy the Mac App Store version, you can sync your Macs and iOS devices using Dropbox sync. (There is also an option for Wi-Fi sync, but that's designed to work between a single Mac and one or more iOS devices, and it sounds like you have multiple Macs.)

Can I use iCloud sync with my iPad and iPhone, but keep My Macs in sync with them? What would be best practice there?

1Password cannot sync a vault using Dropbox sync and iCloud sync simultaneously, so the sync option you choose on your Mac(s) will need to be the same one you use on your iPad and iPhone. Out of curiosity, is there a reason you'd want to continue using iCloud sync in 1Password on those devices if you need to use a different sync option on your Macs? 1Password is secure by design and your 1Password data is end-to-end encrypted, so with regard to security there's no difference between syncing 1Password data with Dropbox or iCloud. 1Password simply doesn't depend on the security of either to protect your data.

Dropbox also has the advantage that it can be used to share vaults with friends, family, and co-workers, whereas it's not currently possible to share anything between iCloud accounts. And it's the only single sync solution that works across all 1Password platforms: Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android.

I prefer app developers I support to get all the money.

Thank you, we certainly appreciate that! :) Although, we really just want you to be happy with 1Password, regardless of where you decide to purchase it.

Hopefully that answers your questions, but please let us know if you need anything else. We're always happy to help! :)

    Hi Drew,

Looks like Dropbox sync is my best option. I've also tried using Omni's Omnisync server, but the file format for 1Password is such that Omnisync Server can't keep it properly synced. Too bad, all my devices have access to that. So I guess it's dropbox. I like that it can be used to sync vaults. I guess it's time I learn how to use them properly. Thanks! I've been using 1Password from the beginning and recommend it to everyone.

  • I'm glad you enjoy 1Password and find it useful @leicaman. Should you have any queries regarding Dropbox please do ask
