why can't I stop 1PW 5 from auto-locking?

I go to security and uncheck all boxes about auto-lock and each time during the day I need another site user name and password I have to go thru my entire Master Password--I even trid setting auto-lock to 360 minutes and that didn't stop it--I want it to stay open all day until I shut off the system-

    Hi @TripleHjr,

Can I ask about one of the other preferences please. If you look at the General tab of 1Password's preferences, how do you have the first option set, the one titled Always keep 1Password mini running? I ask as 1Password mini is where the timers and auto locks are maintained. So if 1Password is set it terminate when the main window is closed it does mean the timers don't behave. We should make that clearer in the interface.

Now it might not be that and we might need to think of other causes but that would be the prime suspect given what you've described. Let us know if it helps or if we still need to investigate

ok--I told 1PW5 not to have the Mini always running--but which "main window" do you refer to: the main window in 1PW or the Main Window on my desktop which closes when it goes to screen saver?--my 1PW seemed to be locking every time I walked away from my computer and screen saver came on--Hank

I unchecked have Mini running all the time and I can't work without it cuz that's the only place where I can just click and 1PW fills in a password for , for instance, Apple ID---otherwise I have to go to main window of 1PW, find site, copy password, and then paste--why did I buy 1PW???---so I could eliminate 4 steps!

    Hi @TripleHjr,

I apologise, I missed out the word mini in a key place in my previous response to you. It should have read:

So if 1Password mini is set it terminate when the main window is closed it does mean the timers don't behave.

    (Emphasis for what I missed)

I was wondering if you had it already disabled given the issue you were experiencing. We actually recommend and want you to have 1Password mini running all the time as so many aspects work better if 1Password mini is simply present to listen for certain keyboard shortcuts or the icon being clicked on. I thought maybe it was disabled because the timers won't work if 1Password isn't left running.

If you normally have 1Password mini running in the background then we're looking at a different issue.

It might be worth us reviewing a diagnostic report, see if we can spot anything obvious as to what the timers wouldn't be behaving. This guide will assist.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums

The email address you will want to use is support+forum@agilebits.com.

When sending the diagnostic report to the address above it would help immensely if you could include a link to this thread and your forum handle so we can connect the two.

Once you've sent the report a post here with the ticket ID will help us to keep an eye out for it. With access to the report we should be able to better assist you

I will keep an eye on this but just to be clear: I don't want the timers to work!--I want it to stay open all day while I walk away from the computer, etc---it will turn off when I shut the computer down each night--

    Hi @TripleHjr,

In an odd way you still need the timers to work, it's probably just how I'm explaining it. 1Password mini is what keeps your vault unlocked and it tracks the timers and indeed if they're enabled at all. If 1Password mini stops running for any reason your vault will be in an unlocked state because that's its normal state of existence. So everything hinges on 1Password mini running and not tripping over. That's why I wanted to see if you normally had it running or not as some people do turn it off and don't realise all of the timers for keeping your vault unlocked (disabled or enabled) are connected to it.

The other likely cause is either 1Password unexpectedly terminating or if you have two copies of 1Password on your system it is possible two copies of 1Password mini will fight with each other resulting in your vault locking. Both of these should be visible in a diagnostic report if they're happening.
