Does 1Password support login for sites that have basic HTTP auth? Or only usual form based auth?
Does 1Password support login for sites that have basic HTTP auth? Or only usual form based auth is supported?
I have some websites that I use that use basic HTTP auth for login. Will I be able to get autocomplete on that with 1Password or only manually copy & pasting will work in this case?

Hi,
At this time 1Password doesn't support Basic Authentication. It's a known requested feature by 1Password users and has been acknowledged as such by AgileBits. I reviewed some of the previous threads on this subject and found one you may like to take a look at.

Hi @daniels,
Unfortunately the link only applies to 1Password for Windows. As you're posting in the Mac section I don't think it will be of any use to you. For the moment you are actually using the optimal solution, copy and paste.
I shall make a note of your query though as a request to see this happen. I apologise I can't provide more of a satisfactory resolution right now for you though.
One of the sticking points at the moment is there isn't a cross-browser approach for interacting with these basic auth prompts, that's why we can't fill them like a web page. Now I believe Chrome and Firefox have added something so they can be interacted with but I don't know if it's the same approach between both and I believe we were hoping Safari would join them. In the end it might be something like Auto-Type for the Mac is what is needed as a works in all browsers solution.
