Continuous error Database could not be backed up. Database exists but is invalid....

I have seen that I am not the only one with this problem, but it appears that there is a different solution for everyone. I have multiple computers, all with Yosemite, all with the latest 1Password version, which I downloaded from the Agile Web Store. Each of these replaced a previous version of 1Password (the latest was 1Password 4). I also have the 1Password app on several iPhones.

I am not sure if this helps, but in my Dropbox folder, I currently have two sets of files for 1Password. The first is called 1Password.agilekeychain, which seems to get updated regularly. It is about 421K. I also have a folder called Apps, which has a folder called 1Password, which also has a file called 1Password.agilekeychain. That file size is 1.1MB. That too gets updated regularly, but the date modified of both of these files are NOT the same. Help. Thanks...

    Hi @hdarak,

I'm sorry you're having some trouble with 1Password!

Just to make sure I understand, from the title of your post, it sounds like at least one of your Macs is giving you an error message that says "Database could not be backed up. Database exists but is invalid." If the title of that error is "Database Backup Failed" then 1Password 5 should be working correctly, and the problem is actually coming from an old component of 1Password 3. It's a process called 1PasswordAgent, and you can delete it by following these steps:

    1. From the Finder, go to the menu option for Go > Go to Folder...
    2. In the Go to the folder field that appears, copy and paste the following text and press Return: ~/Library/LaunchAgents
    3. Delete ws.agile.1PasswordAgent.plist
    4. Go back to the menu option for Go > Go to Folder…
    5. Copy and paste the following text and press Return: ~/Library/Application Support/1Password
    6. Delete the Agent folder
    7. Restart your Mac

Please let us know how it goes and if that takes care of the problem, thanks!

    Hi @hdarak,

On behalf of Drew, you're welcome! Thanks for following up to let us know that deleting the 1PasswordAgent solved the problem. We're glad 1Password is back up and running well for you again! Cheers. :)
