Where did you purchase your copy?

If you bought directly at the AgileBits web store within the last 30 days, they will issue a refund. Send your request to support+licenses@agilebits.com. They will issue a refund so that you can buy a license from Apple's Mac App Store.

If you bought from the Mac App Store, you will have to take your refund request up with Apple, since AgileBit won't have any record of your license. To do that, you can click on the Report a Problem link in your Mac App Store receipt. Apple has an all-sales-are-final policy, but they sometimes will use a refund anyway.

The only real practical difference between the versions is that only the version from the Mac App Store can use iCloud for syncing.

I edited the title of your post to help make it more informative about the issue you have.

    Hi @Ianelg,

I see that hawkmoth has given you a great answer, was it helpful for you?

I searched for the email address from your forum account and was able to find a purchase for a 1Password 5 for Mac license from the AgileBits Store in mid-June. Is that the purchase you referred to? If so, I should be able to process a refund, if you haven't already sent us an email about that. Did you need to purchase 1Password from the Mac App Store instead? Or by "wrong version" did you mean that you need an older version, or possibly a version of 1Password for another platform like Windows or iOS?

    Please let us know, thanks!

I would like the Mac App Store Version the one that uses Apple Touch ID and at the same time I don't want to re-enter all my information that I currently have setup now with the previous Version if that is possible.

The only version that uses TouchID is the version for iOS, which is only available from Apple. There isn't any choice about different versions.

Did you mean to post in the Mac forum? Or did you really want to be asking about the iOS application, the one for iPhones and iPads? Perhaps you are asking about upgrading the iOS version from an earlier version that doesn't use TouchID?

Sorry for all the questions, but now I am confused about what you seek.

If you are indeed asking about the Mac version from the Mac App Store, and instead of iCloud, you typed TouchID, you will be able to switch from the version sold by AgileBits without losing any of your data. And @Drew_AG has given you the information you need to request that refund.

If you could clarify your issue a bit, there will be people to assist.

    Hi @Ianelg,

Just to add a bit to hawkmoth's answer, there is no version of 1Password for Mac that supports Touch ID, because Macs don't have the Touch ID hardware. That is a feature found only on newer iOS devices (i.e. newer models of iPhones and iPads). Apple has not yet built a Touch ID fingerprint scanner into any Mac models.

If you are using an iOS device with Touch ID, then the iOS version of 1Password supports that. 1Password 5 for iOS is a free download and offers free basic features (including support for Touch ID). If you would like to unlock the Pro Features in 1Password 5 for iOS, you can do so with an in-app purchase.

On the other hand, if you're asking about syncing the 1Password data on your Mac using iCloud, then yes, you will need the Mac App Store version of 1Password for Mac. That's because iCloud sync uses Apple's CloudKit technology, which can currently only be used by apps sold through Apple's.

I apologize for any confusion, and I hope our answers haven't made things even more confusing for you! Please do let us know if you have more questions about any of that, and if you'd like us to refund your purchase from the AgileBits Store.
