Temporary Update License?

Hi. I'm currently running Mavericks and my iDevices are on iOS 8 (current). I have been using 1Password 3.x on all platforms, but realize it no longer syncs with dropbox and want to fix that. I want to jump to El Capitan, but not until it's 1) released and stable and 2) my son (who has been a huge supporter of your product and who is actually writing this on my behalf:-) has a chance to update my whole system, which probably won't happen until early 2016.

In the meantime, what are my options? Does 1Password 4 for Mac sync with 1Password 5 for iOS via Dropbox? (Can't seem to find info on that…) If not, what do I do? If so, what can you offer me to be able to use 1Password 4 for the next 6 months or so before buying 1Password 5 after upgrading OS X to El Capitan? I bought a 1Password 3 license (and 1 & 2 also I think) directly from you, and prefer that to the App Store for 1Password 5. Of course I bought previous version of 1Password for iOS for iPhone and iPad (including 1Password Pro 3.x), so I'm rather deep into it… :)

Thanks

You could upgrade to version 5 now. That upgrade allows you to use the legacy versions too, including version 4. In fact, versions 4 and 5 use the exact same license file. So with on purchase you'd be set for now and for early 2016 when your plan is to upgrade to El Capitan. If you go to the AgileBits store, you'll find a button to click to upgrade your license. Enter your license key there to see your discounted upgrade price.

And yes, 1Password 4 for Mac will sync easily with 1Password 5 for iOS via Dropbox.

I have no idea what's in store for 1Password when El Capitan is released, but since that seems mainly to be aimed an enhanced performance, it would be a surprise to me if it breaks 1Password 5, or any other current application.

    Hi @basaleah,

Hawkmoth's reply is spot-on, I hope that helped to answer your questions!

If you haven't already done so, you can download 1Password 4 for Mac from the "Legacy" section at the bottom of our download site.

If you decide to upgrade to a 1Password 4/5 for Mac license, you can visit our Upgrade Store and enter your license code from version 3 to see your upgrade discount and license options. After upgrading, you'll get a license email with a link you can click to apply the license file to 1Password 4.

1Password 5 for iOS is a free download, and offers free basic features. If you would like to unlock the Pro Features in 1Password 5 for iOS, you can do so with an in-app purchase. That purchase would allow you to activate Pro Features in 1Password 5 on all your iOS 8 devices associated with your Apple ID.

I hope that helps, but please let us know if you have more questions. :)
