Is it possible to reinstall 1Password (forgot master password)
My daughter lost her master password so we are trying to completely reinstall 1Password but whatever we do it keeps asking for the old password when it tries to sync devices.
I am in despair and nothing I have read and tried will work.
Can someone please help or is this really impossible.
1Password Version: 5.3
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: OS X 10.10.4
Sync Type: iCloud

Just follow the appropriate instructions in this knowledge base article:

Thanks but I can't get these to work.
"In most cases, you’ll now be prompted to create a new vault. If 1Password detects data from an older version of 1Password, that data will be imported and you’ll be asked for your Master Password."
It keeps asking for older master password which I do not have.
So what can I try when I don't fall into the "In most cases" category?

Hi @trah,
I see you've also posted about this in a similar thread. I've replied to you there.
In the future, we very much prefer keeping the conversation about this issue in one place. It makes it simpler for us to see the troubleshooting steps that have already been tried, and allows us to get you to your solution more quickly. Multiple posts about a single issue tend to confuse the matter.
Thanks for your patience as we work to resolve this!

Even if I follow the steps to delete iCloud data when I open 1password it immediately says it has found iCloud data and wants the master password
I have spent almost a whole day trying to sort this out and it is driving me crazy. This is after myself and most of the people in my company being happy with 1password for many years!

Hi @trah, when you're being asked for your Master Password does the screen look anything like this?
If it does then the text I've underlined is clickable and brings up a small menu as you can see below and the bottom option is Create new vault...

Does this apply to you at all?

Yes but when I go through these options I get to:
1Password detected that the data in the Primary vault is different to that from the data you selected in iCloud
Enter vault passwordEverything that I try always gets to a stage where it asks for the old password which I do not have

Hi @trah,
I'm sorry this continues to be a problem for you! I'm confident we can help sort this all out, but I'm not quite sure I follow how you're getting to the point you describe. It sounds like you saw the screen from littlebobbytables' first screenshot, clicked on the link for "click here to select a different option", then selected "Create new vault...". Is that correct?
If you did that, you should have been prompted to choose a new master password, and you would have ended up with a new, empty vault in 1Password. Does that match what happened on your Mac? If so, are you trying to enable iCloud sync, and that's when it tells you the data is different and asks for your old master password? In that case, go to Help > Troubleshooting > Reset iCloud Data. That option will erase the 1Password data from that iCloud account, and then you should be able to enable iCloud sync as if it was the first time.
Does that help? If not, please describe the exact steps you're taking, and where things are not matching up with what is supposed to happen. The more details you can give us about what happens on your end, the better we'll be able to help. Thanks! :)
