A few questions before purchasing
I currently have a trial version but would like to buy the full license. A few questions before I do:
1) I am a public school teacher (US - 8th grade). Am I eligible for the education license price? If I am, I don't have an ".edu" email address since I am middle school. How would I go about getting the discount?
2) At least initially, I don't want to sync anywhere. I want to keep 1password on my main Mac only. Can I turn off syncing so the 1password software and all of the passwords are contained totally on this machine?
3) I would like to purchase from the apple app store so that I can sync with iCloud if I decide to later. How do I do that from the trial version on my desktop?

Just to let you know that the first two queries are sadly mutually exclusive. If you deem iCloud Sync support important or want to keep it as an available option then as you know that means purchasing from Apple's Mac App Store. That does preclude obtaining the educational licence pricing we offer though as we're only able to do that in our own store. It means weighing up the value you you see in iCloud (present and potential future) and deciding if it's worth it.
If you do decide to purchase the Mac App Store version then doing so is straightforward enough. After purchasing and downloading the Mac App Store version, the first time you launch it it would find your existing AgileBits Store data from the trial and import it. It should appear pretty seamless and the only thing we recommend is removing the 1Password 5.app afterwards so there isn't any possible confusion with two now independent vaults being used simultaneously.
How 1Password handles syncing is one of the big selling points in my opinion. We don't automatically sync, it's up to the user to set up so if you don't want to synchronise that is completely your choice. Even when you do decide you wish to sync how you sync is again completely your choice. If you've been testing sync out then it's easy enough to turn off if you wish and we can help with that too if that is the case.
