paid for a license to be standalone, but it automatically linked to and old primary vault in iCloud
My understanding is that one needs a separate license for each computer. I paid and downloaded from iTunes, 1 Password 5 (no license code was provided). It automatically linked to an old vault in iCloud, which I do not want. I have tried to delete the vault following the instructions without success. I want to have one new vault associated with this download. Please advise how to get what I paid for.

First, as long as you use the same AppleID, you don't need to pay for a license for that new machine. But if you want two separate iCloud vaults, one for each machine, you'll have to use separate AppleIDs and make separate purchase. Also, you will only be able to have one vault associated with a particular AppleID.
Apple won't provide a license key for apps they sell. Licensing is tied to the AppleID used for the purchase.
So, are you wanting a brand new vault to replace the older one already in iCloud? If that's the idea, post back to let us know. I'm sure someone can help you erase the old vault. But if you really want to keep one separate vault for each machine, let us know that too. That also can be handled, but it will be a little more complicated, as I think you can tell from my first paragraph.

Thank you, but still very confusing. This was the first time I purchased 1P through through iTunes. On 2 other Macs, I have 1P5 that won't sync with iClouds, only to a folder or Dropbox. I understand that only 1P5 purchased through iTunes will sync with iCloud. Perhaps it was 1P4 that synced with iCloud, hence, the old vault. I am okay now with one vault as long as I can bring the iCloud to be the latest vault, or copy the Vault database from one iMac to the other directly. Thank you.

Hi, @dror. You can remove your old 1Password data from iCloud:
https://support.1password.com/icloud-remove-data/mac.htmlOnce you've done that, you can reset 1Password and it will prompt you to create a new vault:
https://support.1password.com/starting-over/mac.html1Password is licensed per person and per platform, so you don't need a separate license for each computer. However, you're correct that only the Mac App Store version of 1Password can sync your vault with iCloud at this time. You can use the same primary vault on all your Macs and sync them with iCloud by installing the Mac App Store version of 1Password on them, provided they're running at least OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
