Finding Location of Backup

Version 5.3 for Mac
When I go to 1Password>Preferences>BackUp>Find Backup It takes me to a file in my documents folder. My 1Password
Backup is not there. It is in DropBox.
Monthly, I would like to make an additional copy of my latest backup and copy it to a USB thumb drive.
What is a good way to do this.
Thanks,
Alan

Are you perhaps confusing your Dropbox sync file with the 1Password local backups? When I go to 1Password > Preferences > Backup and click the button to Show Files, a Finder window opes with all the backups shown. This are found in Macintosh HD > Users > myusername > Library > Application Support > 1Password 4 > Backups

(1Password 4 is the correct location, even though the current release is 1Password 5. The files didn't change location from version 4. I am not 100% certain that this same location app;is to the Mac App Store version.)

The file in the local Dropbox folder is the sync file, not the backup.

I do see that if I click the Find Backup button that Finder opens to the Desktop folder. I have no idea why it does that.. Maybe someone can enlighten us about that.

The behaviour does seem a little bizarre. However, I'm guessing that:

    • You use Show Files in the backup pane of 1P preferences to show all your 1P backup files (at least, that works for me).
    • In that pane Find Backup actually means Tell me (1Password) where you (the user) have put a backup file.

Yep, Show Files does show me my backup files. And I have my preferences set so that the full path shows at the bottom of the window.

    Hi @Alan12,

It's great to hear that you're thinking about keeping your data secure and protected off of your computer. Backups are always a great safety net to have. Here's where you can find your 1Password backups:

If you purchased 1Password from the Mac App Store

    Backups: ~/Library/Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/Data/Library/Backups

If you purchased 1Password from the AgileBits Store

    Backups: ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/Backups

Please let me know if you're not seeing backups in this location.
