Purchased via Agile Store in 2014 but 1Password 5 will not open on my computer

I purchased 1Password 4 in August 2014 via the Agile Store. I also purchased apps for my iPad and iPhone and tried to sync them up via Dropbox. I received notification from Dropbox when I tried to access it on my iPad or iPhone saying there was no .agilekeychain or .opvault in Dropbox. When I came back to my Mac to see what the problem was, I couldn't open it anymore. It said I needed to delete and reinstall 1Password 5 because it couldn't open. When I tried doing this, it said I had to pay $49.99. I think there are multiple problems here and I am not sure how to go about solving any of them!

    Hi @PA_jay,

I'm sorry you're having these problems with 1Password on your Mac and iOS devices!

You certainly don't need to purchase a license for 1Password 4/5 for Mac again, since you already bought one last year. Did you try to re-download 1Password from the Mac App Store? You'll only be able to re-download an app from the Mac App Store if you bought it from there. Since you bought your license from the AgileBits Store, you'll need to re-download 1Password from our download site. (I resent your license info to your email address, just in case you need to re-apply your license file.)

Once you download/install 1Password 5 on your Mac, are you able to open it? If so, does it show all your data? If you're still having any trouble, please let us know exactly what happens. Let us know any exact error messages you receive, if any. Once we get things working on your Mac again, we can help to set up Dropbox sync. Thanks!

Thanks Drew_AG! That seemed to do the trick. I did re-download it from the Agile Store and it did open but it said 'Trial Expired'. I reapplied the License info you sent (thanks!!!) and that immediately made everything great again. Thanks.

So, I did re-try to open up 1Password on my iPad and iPhone and both deliver the same error message. It says "Not Found. No .agilekeychain or .opvault found in Dropbox. Please make sure you are using the correct Dropbox account and synching another computer or device with it. I only have one Dropbox account and set it up specifically for the 1Password data sync. So at this time, I don't know how to proceed.

    Hi @PA_jay,

I'm glad 1Password is working on your Mac now!

For the Dropbox sync issue, let's first check that Dropbox sync is set up in 1Password on your Mac:

    • Open 1Password on your Mac and go to the menu for 1Password > Preferences.
    • Click the Sync tab (if you have multiple vaults, choose the correct one on the left side of the sync preferences).
    • Does that show your vault is syncing with Dropbox? If not, follow these steps to set up Dropbox sync.

If Dropbox sync wasn't enabled, you'll need to enable it, then allow Dropbox to complete the sync so the full sync file is copied to your account on Dropbox.com. After that, go back to 1Password on your iPad and iPhone and see if you're able to set up Dropbox sync now.

On the other hand, if Dropbox sync was already enabled in 1Password on your Mac, what is the exact file path & name of the sync file shown there?

    Drew_AG,
You are a lifesaver. Everything works! I think it is the first time since I subscribed that it has all functioned properly! I appreciate you taking me through the steps that I needed to make sure everything was aligned and enabled as it should be. HUGE help!
