Secondary Vault won't mount on second machine.

So I have a file sync'd using Nuxeo ( it's like Dropbox, except managed in house and less Condileza Rice ) using the 'folder' method. The secondary vault mounts fine on one host .. but when I double click it on the second host, it just gives me the 'Boop' sound .. and nothing else. Where would l look for useful errors?

    Hi @sandinak ,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble keeping 1Password synced up. Unfortunately, it's difficult to determine where things might be getting tangled up if you're using a third-party sync solution, but let's see if we can figure things out.

Just to confirm, what are you clicking on to add the vault to 1Password?

Yes .. I just checked hashes and everything matches (using openssl md5) .. so that's where i am confused.

    Hi @sandinak,

In case it helps, we have information about setting up Folder sync with other cloud sync services in this user guide article. Now, I don't know anything about Nuxeo, but assuming it can work with 1Password and the Folder sync option, you'll need to make sure Folder sync points to a folder stored somewhere locally on your Mac. Nuxeo will need to sync that folder to the cloud, and from the cloud to your other Mac(s).

If that's how you have it set up, but are having trouble adding it as a vault on one of your Macs, can you please let us know exactly what you double-click when trying to do that? Also, is 1Password already set up with a Primary vault on that Mac?

    Heya,

So yes .. I have it setup that the folder is the same on both hosts. Yes they both have primary vaults (Sync'd the same way successfully) .. what happens when I click on the new vault .. I just get the 'boop' .. I click on the {Vaultname}.agilekeychain

    Thanks @sandinak!

Instead of double-clicking the .agilekeychain, you can try dragging it to the 1Password icon in the Dock while 1Password is open. That should give you the same prompt that should appear when double-clicking it, so I'm not sure if that will make a difference, but it's worth trying. Please let us know what happens when you do that.

If that doesn't work, you can try this:

    • Open 1Password and unlock the Primary vault with your master password (if prompted).
    • Go to the menu for 1Password > New Vault.
    • Enter a name for the vault, and the same master password as the .agilekeychain you're trying to sync/add.
    • You should now have a new, empty secondary vault in 1Password.
    • Go to 1Password > Preferences and click the Sync tab.
    • Select the new secondary vault on the left side, then choose Folder from the “Sync vault with” pop-up menu.
    • Click the Choose button and select the .agilekeychain file you're trying to sync (then click Open).
    • Click Merge with Existing to start syncing, and enter the master password when prompted.

Does that work? Let us know how it goes. By the way, for the above steps, I'm assuming you're using 1Password 5 for Mac. If you're using a different version, please let us know. You can check the version from the 1Password app by going to 1Password > About 1Password. (Please also let us know if it's the AgileBits Store or the Mac App Store version.) Thanks!

this is 1password for mac We've tried the drag .. .get nothing. I tried the above steps and I never get the 'Open' or Merge. I just get 'Create New'. I backed up my stuff and went ahead and tried it. Just get an empty vault. All the files appear to be sync'd correctly. So went back and desync'ed from both.
Re-added the 1st host, got the merge option for what was there... ok cool
Re-added the 2nd host, got the merge option this time .. but the new vault is empty...

So .. one step forward. ;)

    Hi @sandinak,

    this is 1password for mac

Thanks, but would you be able to let us know the version number? Just open the 1Password app on your Mac and go to the menu for 1Password > About 1Password. The window that opens will show the exact version number. If you have a "Copy to Clipboard" button there, you can simply click that, then paste it in a reply to let us know.

Also, what version of Mac OS X are you running on that Mac?

We've tried the drag .. .get nothing.

Can you be more specific about what happens? When you drag the .agilekeychain file to the 1Password icon in the Dock, the name of the app should appear above that icon. At that point, when you let go of the mouse/trackpad button, 1Password should prompt you to create a new vault from that .agilekeychain file. When you drag it to the 1Password icon in the Dock, what exactly do you see?

I tried the above steps and I never get the 'Open' or Merge. I just get 'Create New'.

From your description, it sounds like you aren't specifically selecting the .agilekeychain file when setting up Folder sync for the new, empty vault. In the Sync preferences, when you select Folder from the “Sync vault with” pop-up menu and click the Choose button, an "Open" window will appear which allows you to find and select your .agilekeychain file. At the bottom of that window are buttons for Cancel and Open. You will need to navigate to the .agilekeychain file from that window, click once on that file to select it, and then click the Open button at the bottom of that window.

If you select the .agilekeychain file and click Open, the Folder Sync setup window should have a Merge With Existing button. However, if you don't select the .agilekeychain file (for example, if you select a folder containing a .agilekeychain file), you will see a Create New button. Are you sure you're selecting the .agilekeychain file?

I backed up my stuff and went ahead and tried it. Just get an empty vault.

If you ended up with a Create New button and clicked that, it would create a new .agilekeychain file inside the folder you selected. That new .agilekeychain file would be empty, just like the new vault you created.

Sorry to get so specific about all the steps! I just want to make sure I understand what you're doing and that you're following the exact steps to set this up, since the process doesn't seem to be matching what I described. Thanks in advance!
