Do I need to buy two copies of 1Password?

I have one copy of 1Password from the Apple App Store. I have created a vault to share with my wife. Do I need to buy a second copy of 1Passwork for her Mac?

You won't need to buy a second copy if you set up Family Sharing, or if you should both happen to use the same AppleID. 1Password is eligible for Family Sharing through Apple, and that allows up to six family members to download the application. Do know that setting up Family Sharing will require all members of the family group to use the same credit card.

In case you're new to family sharing, Apple provides instructions for setting it up on this page.

Edit: unless you do both share the same AppleID, you won't be able to share a vault through iCloud. Apple doesn't permit sharing that way. You will, however, be able to do so if you pick Dropbox for syncing.

@Daddybill - sorry I omitted a critical part of the comment under my edit. If it wasn't clear, sharing among users with different AppleIDs is not allowed through iCloud. I corrected the comment, but I wanted to be sure you see this.

    Hi @Daddybill,

I hope hawkmoth's information was helpful for you!

If you want to share a vault with your wife, you can do that using Dropbox sync/sharing. We have more information on how to set that up in this knowledgebase article.

If you have more questions about that, just let us know! :)
