I would like to buy 23 licenses for my business.

I noticed on your check out page that there is a spot for a coupon. We dont have budget to pay $1300US for password management. Is there another alternative? I need an enterprise version of your software.

    Hi @bgruen,

Thanks for choosing 1Password for your business's password management needs! I'm glad you came to us with this question before buying.

I'd like to direct you to our business store, where we offer volume discounts. A 23-seat site license for 1Password for Mac will cost significantly less than $1300. Hopefully that will be more within your budget range.

You're also welcome to email us at support+licenses@agilebits.com to ensure we're able to meet your specific business needs. Thanks again! :)

If I buy 23 seats how long can I use those licenses for? What if you issue an upgrade? Will these licenses work indefinitely? Please call me.

Your licenses are good for as long as you want to use them. 1Password is not sold on a subscription model; you make a one-time payment and your license is good forever, assuming that a future OS upgrade doesn't break something. When major ugrades arrive, AgileBits has stopped further development of the legacy versions, although those continue to be available to download from their web site.

As far as updates go, AgileBits issues minor ones for free, and those come fairly regularly. When a major upgrade comes, they do often charge a discounted price to current users. But you don't have to upgrade if you don't want to. Most recently, when version 5 arrived with the release of Yosemite, that upgrade was provided free to licensed users of version 4, so sometimes, even major upgrades are free.

I'm not experienced with the business licenses, but I am not aware that buying 23 licenses would alter anything I've said.

    Hi @bgruen,

I hope you don't mind, I've merged your latest post into your thread from a couple days ago because both pertain to the topic of business licenses.

Hawkmoth's answer is absolutely correct. When you buy a 1Password license, whether it's for business or personal use, it's for the current version of the app, and it can be used to register that version of the app (as well as older versions) for as long as you want, without expiring.

One difference between the single license and the multi-seat site license for business is that a single license is intended for personal use and may be shared among up to six family members in a household. Each 'seat' of a business license covers just one employee (and is not intended to be shared with their family). A business license belongs to the company that purchased it, so a seat can be transferred to a new employee if one leaves the company.

I hope this clarifies our policy a bit and answers your question. If you'd like to further discuss your specific business needs, feel free to email us at support+licenses@agilebits.com. Thanks again for considering 1Password for your company's password management needs! :)

Do you have a "Best Practices" guide for enterprises. For example do you recommend us to have a unique admin account? How can we control the use and reuse of passwords among employees?

    Hi @bgruen,

Do you have a "Best Practices" guide for enterprises.

Because 1Password is the same software and works the same way for both business and personal use, the user guides and knowledgebase aren't specifically focussed on enterprises. We do have a support site that has user guides to help set up and use 1Password, as well as a knowledgebase with frequently asked questions and troubleshooting tips.

For example do you recommend us to have a unique admin account?

This isn't really something that currently applies to 1Password. Can you be a bit more specific about what you would like to do?

How can we control the use and reuse of passwords among employees?

1Password cannot control whether or not you reuse the same password for multiple websites or services, but it does have a Security Audit feature which can help show you your logins that use the same password. This knowledgebase article might also be helpful for you: How to find and remove duplicate passwords (Mac)

We also have an article on our blog which discusses password reuse: Friends don’t let friends reuse passwords

I hope that helps, but please let us know if you have more questions! :)
