1Password Mini menu doesn't close

I am attempting to log in to the site https://checkvist.com/auth/login with a previously saved username/password. I'm hitting the command-\ shortcut in Chrome to fill in the form. Sometimes the form is filled and submitted as expected, but the 1Password mini menu is opened and then left open. Other times it doesn't even attempt to fill in the form.

1Password Version: 5.3.2
Extension Version: 4.4.1.90
OS Version: OS X 10.10.4
Sync Type: dropbox

    Hi @snstanton,

I'm sorry you're having some trouble with your Login item for that site. Thanks for letting us know the URL!

I created a test Login item for that site, and tried having the 1Password extension fill it several times. Each time it worked correctly - I couldn't actually sign in because I don't have an account there, but 1Password filled the fields correctly and tried to submit the form.

Something that might help is to save a new Login item for that site by following the steps in this knowledgebase article. Does the new Login item work correctly? Let us know how it goes, and if it's still a problem, we'll continue from there. Thanks!

I tried re-creating the login and it didn't help. I've also seen this same problem on other sites (e.g. youtrack.jetbrains.com), so I think it's a more general issue. To be clear, here are the steps I am performing to test it:

    1. open a new Chrome tab
    2. type checkvist.com and hit enter
    3. click on the "sign in" button to get to /auth/login
    4. click comand-\ to auto fill the form
    5. see the form get filled in and submitted correctly, but also see the 1password mini menu open and stay open

A possibly related problem is that if I open a new tab, hit command-\, type checkvist into the 1password mini search and select checkvist, then the form is filled in but not submitted.

    Hi @snstanton,

One thing we might not have accounted for is what version of Chrome you're running or if you have multiple profiles/people active at the same time. I've gone slightly further than Drew in that I created a test account but so far I haven't managed to get a stock copy of Chrome to misbehave. To help clarify it's a copy of Chrome 44.0.2403.89 with no other extensions other than 1Password (Chrome is only for testing for me, I'm a Safari guy/stick figure).

Something else I was mulling over is if you've changed any of the user configurable keyboard shortcuts in 1Password's preference window, specifically the General tab.

Maybe something there will help us understand the difference in observable behaviours.

It's definitely Chrome specific. The same site works as expected in Safari. I'm using Chrome 44.0.2403.89 (64-bit). I do have multiple profiles configured, although I only have tabs from one of the profiles open currently. I have not changed any of the 1password key bindings. I tried creating a profile with only the 1password extension enabled and the problem still occurs. Notably, it does not exhibit the same behavior when the unlock dialog appears first. Is there a way to export my 1password preferences so you can compare them to yours?

    Hi @snstanton,

Our diagnostic report does include the output of your preferences but if your thought is for us to test your preferences as part of the steps to reproduce (which is possibly useful) we could get you to send a copy of the two files into us via email.

There are two preference files which hold most of 1Password's preferences and you can find them in ~/Library/Preferences/. The contents are nothing sensitive given they're included anyway in the diagnostic report. The two files are:

    • 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper.plist
    • com.agilebits.onepassword4.plist

If you were to attach those to an email and send that to us at support+forum@agilebits.com with the subject title FAO: LittleBobbyTables and a link to this thread then the person that first jumps at the chance to respond will be know to let me know you've sent it in and that they'll have to go help somebody else instead  It might be worth giving us a little description of your Chrome setup too. You mentioned having multiple profiles so if you can describe roughly how many tabs you might normally have open, multiple windows for the same profile etc. Basically anything I can try to reproduce to mimic your setup and see if we have some weird quirk.

How does that sound for a plan going forward?

I have sent you the requested info in email. I've tried to pare things down to a minimal scenario.

Thanks @snstanton! We received your email, and someone will get back to you as soon as possible about that. We'll keep the conversation going directly via email to avoid complicating things between here and there. Thanks!

    Hi @snstanton,

I apologise for the delay in responding. You should have an email from us now. Drew's suggestion of staying with email is a good one so I'm going to go ahead and close this thread but if you have any further questions or issues please do post.
