Went from Yosemite/1Password to Lion. How do I get license & install for 1 Password for Lion?
Went to Yosemite to get the app store 1 Password. HATE Yosemite. Finally back on Lion. Installed trial version of 1 Password for Lion. Looking to import Timemachine backup of 1 Password data. Where is it? It's supposed to be (I believe) in Application Support/1Password 4, but that doesn't exist on my Time Machine backup(???) Also, where do I email my receipt for 1Password 5 so I can get licensing for 1Password 4?
Thanks in advance!
1Password Version: 3.8.22

OS Version: OSX 10.7.5

Hello!
I have a similar problem. I upgraded to Yosemite and purchased 1password5. Needing iPhoto, I went back to OSX Lion (only took 3 days to do it). If I go to the Mac app store I can't download 1password because it's not compatible with OSX Lion. I took a screen shot of my mac App store purchases and the window that says "download" for 1 Password, but can't send it to you because I can't find an email address on this site. How can I get a version of 1 Password that works for my mac on OSX Lion? Thanks!0 -
Hello again! Part B of my issue is that all of my password data is now in my Yosemite backup "somewhere". How do I find the data and use it with the OS X Lion version of 1Password? I've been using Time Machine for backups.
Thanks again.0 -
Hi @tanksalot,
I know with Mavericks that the Mac App Store will inform you that 1Password 5 isn't compatible but it will offer to download the last compatible version which is 1Password 4. My memory is hazy though in how long Apple have had this feature so it may be it doesn't extend back to the first version we had in MAS which was 1Password 3.
So what you will want to do is email us at support+licenses@agilebits.com along with a copy of your MAS receipt for 1Password.
Now the much harder problem facing you is how to get your vault into 1Password 3. You see your vault and your backups in 1Password 5 (as well as 4) are all stored in 1Password 5's native format, which is an encrypted SQLite database file. 1Password 3 doesn't understand this at all and can't do anything with it. This isn't to say you can't get 1Password 3 and 1Password 5 to communicate but you need to have set up syncing in 1Password 5 and created the Agile Keychain that 1Password 3 can use. If all you have is the SQLite database file or the backup files, which is all that would exist if you didn't set up syncing, then you won't be able to access them from 1Password 3 which is the last version to work in OS X Lion. Do you have access to a machine that still runs Mountain Lion or newer?

Hi @tanksalot,
I've merged your posts from those two threads together. It's much easier to assist you if we know you're not getting contradictory advice or that we're duplicating anything said elsewhere already

Thanks! I've sent what looks to me like a receipt (from Apple) to the email address given above. Fortunately, I remember most of the passwords (since I didn't use 1password encryption (yet), so getting the database isn't going to be necessary. I suspect I'll be upgrading to Mavericks, so I can still use iPhoto.
Very much appreciate the prompt assistance!

Hi @tanksalot,
I see somebody has been in touch and assisted you. Just to let you know that if you do decide to move to Mavericks instead of Yosemite that you should be able to download 1Password 4 for Mac from Apple's Mac App Store and you would be able to use your 1Password 5 vault as long as you still have access to the Time Machine backups. If you have any follow up questions at all please do ask

A couple more questions......I've followed the directions and have 1Password on oSX Lion. Got extensions on Chrome & Firefox.
- I wasn't sure if I had registered my license so I tried (again?) and I got an error message. Is the "trial period is over" message after 30 days the only way I know that I haven't registered? is there a way to get assurance that I AM registered?
- I've tried installing the Safari extension twice. Doesn't appear to install. Extension says version 4.4.2-2 and I have 1password 3.8.22. Is that why I can't see 1Password in Safari?
- Any way to get the 1password5 extension "unloaded" since I can't use it?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @tanksalot,
To answer your questions:
- If you look in the menu option 1Password > License... you will be able to see the current status of 1Password on that machine. That actually applies for all versions of 1Password from version 3 to 5. That way you don't have to wait for a surprise. It's also where you would go to add a licence to complete the registration process for 1Password 3. Let us know if you need any assistance there.
- Unfortunately you don't want that extension. The 4.X branch will only work with 1Password 4 & 5 and what you actually need is version 3 of the extension. The reason is so much changed between versions that even the extension works in a completely different way. The easiest way to locate the 1Password 3 Browser Extensions is to use the menu option 1Password > Install Browser Extensions.
- You will want to uninstall the 1Password 4 Safari Extension as it is useless to you. All it should take is to enter Safari's preferences and switch to the Extensions tab. In there you should see an Uninstall button after you've selected a particular extension and that's all you need to do to remove the redundant version.
As always, if that isn't enough detail or if you have other questions please do post back
