License not backwards compatible with legacy version
I have a family license that I purchased during version 4. I have an older macbook pro that I wanted to install 1password on, but the latest version it will allow me to install is version 3. The problem is that it won't recognize my license from the later version, how can I get it to fully work?

I'm going to assume, because you refer to a family license for version 4, that you bought your license from the AgileBits web store, not from Apple at the Mac App Store.
Your version 4 and 5 license (5 is free to registered 4 users) give you access also to version 3. The licenses work differently though, with version 3 using an alphanumeric key code. If you don't have such a code, you can request that your license be resent to you. The reply will include a key code for version 3, as well as the information needed to add the license file (not key code) to versions 4 and 5.
Directions for getting your license resent to you are here:
I’ve lost my license. Can I look it up, or can you resend it?

Hi @jsw0984,
Hawkmoth's answer is pretty accurate, but I was able to find your license and for some reason it wasn't showing the version 3 key, so it's possible that requesting the license from that link wouldn't include the version 3 key after all. But I've regenerated it and sent you the license info by email directly. Please let us know if you don't get the email or the key doesn't work for you... or if you have any other 1Password questions at all. :) Thanks!

Vee is correct that when I requested the license be resent that it did not include the info for v3. Thank you Vee for forwarding me the license information.

On behalf of Vee, you're very welcome! And sorry for the confusion about that - originally, new purchases of a 1Password 4 license didn't automatically generate a 1Password 3 license code (although we were always happy to do so upon request). At some point that was changed to happen automatically for new purchases.
We're here for you if you need anything else! :)
