Would you please tell me if I would have to pay a renewal fee for MAC App updates ?

Thank you

    There is no repeated, payable "fee" to use 1Password. You make a one-off payment for 1P for Mac and can then use that version so long as it's compatible with OS X upgrades that you install. Upgrades between major versions of 1Password (e.g., 1P5 to 1P6) are usually, but not invariably, chargeable (for example, the upgrade from 1P4 for Mac to 1P5 for Mac was free). Upgrades within a major version of 1Password (e.g., 1P5.3 to 1P5.4) are free (at least based on experience to date).

    If your copy of 1P is from the AgileBits store you'll often find discounted major version upgrades are made available by AgileBits. Unfortunately App Store rules don't enable AgileBits to do that for major version upgrades to the Mac App Store version of 1Password,

    Stephen

    Hi @AChakery,

    Stephen_C is correct (as usual). Additionally, I'd like to explicitly state that when you purchase a license for 1Password, it's good for the currrent and previous versions of the app, and it never expires for use with those versions, but does not guarantee use with future versions.

    I hope this information answers your question, but feel free to post again if there's anything else we can help you with. :)

    Thank you very much for your replies. Actually what I meant is about future updates, I mean will I have to pay for upcoming versions again or like other MAC applications this is a one time payment ?

    Thank you again

    @AChakery,

    That remains to be seen. The future is yet unwritten, and we can't make any promises about products that we haven't released yet. What we can tell you is that a license for 1Password 5 will always be good for 1Password 5 and below, as well as all minor updates to 1Password 5, such as 5.3 and 5.4.

    The upgrade from 1Password 3 to 1Password 4 for Mac was a paid upgrade, but the upgrade from 4 to 5 was free. However, we do try to be as fair as possible to our loyal customers: we offered a nine-month free upgrade window when 1Password 4 came out, and we continue to offer existing users a 50% discount on new licenses in our upgrade store.
